Crank Case screws both sides - where?

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Sun Jan 10, 2016 2:45 am

Where can one get LC crank case screws, in Canada or US that are not Yamie (pricey) and not allen screws - ergo standard at a fair price. Thought Yambits but the CND buck is taking kickn' currently. Though perhaps Economy Cycle - nope. There must be a kit for this or have most gone to auto fasteners metric section, say the Lordco metric section, for replacements. Thx.

I got some bright zinc plated at my local ... Canadian Tire . You can get some from your local bike parts jobber with Motovan , Importation Thibeault and Kimpex ( see their online catalog ) but they won't be green passivate plated .

I would be interested in '' green screws '' .

You got my interest nigel - pm me. Oh, be speaking about the pro-am back fills with engineer this week. Hoping the meeting is positive - may not require a 3d printer interestingly. Let me know bout the screws.

? OEM JIS' imitation Philips" screws were Sketchy.. at best.
Easily messed unless one had the requisite JIS screwstick.
Both hand held and impact fitting.
Few did or do :-)
Back in the Day ..Pretty well everyone swapped those out for Socket heads as soon as they could.
Unless inna UK where fastidious exactitude (for resale value ) is a religion.
It does beg the question as why the lust for OEM style screws ?
Not enough other things to Repair / Replace :smt002

Im restoring bare, something I know you wont understand (its just not your thing), but many of us are...

And... as you allude to, Philips are designed to cam out once torqued, hence why if you use a phillips screwstick (i like that term) you will ruin the OEM JIS heads...
