Re: RD350LC retoration completed
Congrats on a very nice looking machine - nice pipes ta boot! Suspect firing it up brings back a lot of pleasent thoughts/memories. Where's the back ground?
Re: RD350LC retoration completed
Jim Lomas pipes sound great.
Yes firing it up again did bring back some fine memories.
Some so fine that I cant mention them here, lol.
Lets just say that my wife and I had some great times back in the 80s
and this bike could have counted as a threesome !
The background is right in front of my house in Trenton, Ont.
and the pic with my TZR350 was taken at Chubby`s restaurant near Strirling, Ont.

That's awesome to own a bike that long. She looks fantastic.
Seems like there are more white ones around than black ones?
Very nice.

Re: RD350LC retoration completed
Thanks Colin.
Bought it new in 83, lost my license in 85 (stupid kid) so parked it with 16000km.
Rode it again briefly in 98 then parked it with 21650km.
Started restoring it about 8 years ago.
Its a 1982 with 81 colors, I have the original set of black/red plastics and tank.
Serial number 101082, easy to remember since its a 82
A bunch of us hooligans had the LCs back in the day, they were everywhere.
Never thought they would end up nearly obsolete.
I just took it for granted that there were still quite a few around.
Over the years most of the guys I knew that had LCs sold them.
We got older, married, had kids and now regret getting rid of our toys.
I thought about selling the bike back in the early 90s but they
were not worth what they are now.
I sold a original all stock 81 with 10000km in the spring for 7K, crazy.

Re: RD350LC retoration completed
Hi Dberry,
nice bike, I have recently restored the same bike 81 350lc myself and have purchased a set of JL pipes ,
realising that the main centre stand was no longer able to be used, I was ok with that,
so my question is did you fit your pipes personally, and was it a easy straight ahead bolt on, as I think mine need a little modification, such as
rear mounting bracket hole only 9mm but the bolt is a 10mm bolt , so I need open that up, easy, did u need to bend the mounting bracket at all
seems like the left pipe is hitting the main stand lugs, and I was hoping not to grind or cut off the lugs, as I may want to in the future return bike to completely original ,
what gaskets did you use around exhaust port/barrel, eg copper / steel ones that are available, and silicon
thank you for your time
cheers Neil

Re: RD350LC retoration completed
Hi Neil,
The JL pipes were on a RD that I bought 2 years ago.
They fit great, bolt on without bending brackets, do not touch any lugs
and using stock gaskets, no silicon, no leaks, not even a drip.
Now I cant say if the original owner made any adjustments to the pipes
but they looked as new when I mounted them on my RD.
Take care.

Nice Bike, Well done.
Small question: Those Tires look seriously Oversize. Are they?

Re: RD350LC retoration completed
Hi , just wondering how close yr chain is to the left hand pipe,
I have fitted JL pipes to my rd350lc and the chain doesn't touch it when standing still but when riding I'm sure it will, and I don't want chain to grind on pipe
cheers Neil

They look right for a LC. Rear may be one up in profile but likely stock.Bare wrote:Nice Bike, Well done.
