One more ELSIE to add to the list

#1 Post by AV8 » Thu Aug 25, 2016 11:12 am

Good morning everyone.
A quick hello from Connecticut and to add one more ELSIE to the list. I started off as a kid racing the 250 Elsie in production racing in England and had a blast, winning some and falling off quite a bit. Hell if you don't fall off in racing, your not going hard enough some once said.
Now I live in the USA and needed another Elsie, picked up a project years ago and have been working it on and off for years. In between I have owned and run a fully restored RZ350 and R1. I have also built a few one off Yamaha's projects, the last was a Craig's list Seac II. Converted to a be naked, full FZR 600 running gear, yamaha clocks, LC head light, drag bars and Ducati mirrors.

So now to my ELSIE, I have a white and blue stripped euro model. I say euro as I purchased a euro wire harness and handle bar controls (small differences in the controls) plus euro MPH clocks. I'm very close to running, just need to finish the front brakes and fire her up. The only thing I need to finish the hole project is a horn bracket. (Anyone have one spare?)
In the wings is another ELSIE frame and engine project, this one will end up being a black model, that my son and I will build together.
As soon as I get a chance, I'll post photo.
All the best, Adrian

Welcome to the forum , great place for info and help.
i don't have what you need but someone will.
have you looked at the UK site http://rdlccrazy.proboards.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
norbo who runs the site has a huge amount of parts for the LC ( i think his for sale page is down )
well worth a call.
cheers mark

Thanks chaps.
I'm lucky to have an old friend who opened a great shop in Nebraska, he is kind enough to let me look through some of his part boxes. I'm flying out that this weekend and will see what he has.
I had him totally restore one of my LC engine, did an outstanding job. So with out reservation, I would recommend Brad at HCV Cycles.
Last week I was out there on business, found Brad had become a Zero Dealer. So I took one out for a ride and boy what a suprize the electric motorcycles are to ride. Power of an R1, but with out any sound at all.
