ELSIE BATTERY

#1 Post by AV8 » Wed Aug 31, 2016 8:16 pm

Quick question for all you LC boys.
I'm on the final stretch with my RD350LC and looking for a battery. As this model was not imported into the USA, the Yamaha dealer has no data.
Could you all please offer me some recommendations.
Thanks and all the best, Adrian

Yausa does a battery and was the OEM supplier.
Avoid MotoBatt(yellow battery) as I'm told that they are rubbish.
When the dealer(battery retail outlet) tells you not to buy one there is a reason.
No doubt now we'll have everybody chiming in about how good they are!!

I have to admit i have had no issues with the motoBatts i have used on 4 different bikes but maybe i have just been lucky.
YMMV.

be careful with ordering from eBay etc as the one ordered turned out to be for the RZ not RDLC.
But it was smaller and i was able to pack it to fit the battery box.
i would suggest getting a GEL battery as no spill issues.

Got this fm my local Yamie dealer - the only place I could find a decent gel pack was in Europe oddly - postage was more than the battery.

No probs - the cost is a 3rd a gel pack but the $$ I save went to a trickle charger. Don't know what the battery life is as I just purchased mine - 3 riding seasons perhaps with proper maintaince? Others may know.

I've had great luck with Yuasa over the years, as long as you look after them over the winter. The current LC battery is 6 years old...

So is mine.. some Brand X type, albeit 'made in Taiwan' as well... 2/3 rds the cost of a Yuasa.
Overwintering with care seems as the secret to success.

Thanks everyone for the help.
I ordered a battery from my local YAMAHA dealer, $48.00 and a week later ready to go.
Thanks again.
