Side reflectors

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Sun Sep 04, 2016 5:31 pm

Small detail but what it the proper colour for the fork side reflectors on a 82' Canadian RDLC - red or amber?

No clue.. as my 81 And 82 had NO such reflectors or even the mount holes for them.
Methinks it's a later model affliction.
Look in rd350lc.net?

They came on both sides. Some years/ countries didn't have them installed so you must have a mix of headlight brackets.
I don't like them personally and left them off.

Looking at Rd350lc.net ... Canadian brochures show the 82's (Black 'n red paint job) had Amber reflectors fitted to the forks only,
81's had no such embellishments.
Oddly the Brochure Babbles persisted in claiming 47 hp despite independent dyno testing suggesting 37 hp .. on a good day.

The bikes an '82 and found a set for $10 at a local bike bone yard with 5mm bolt. Lucky. Found a seat with a perfect tyne too boot. Learnt that pure (non-hydrated) lanolin is an excellent restorer of harden PVC (poly vinyl chloride) RD/RZ harden seat covers. Off to the pharmacy to make that purchase & and see what occurs. If it works I'll place a thread in tech tips.

The same Stanley reflectors were also used on the 1979-80 RD400 in Canada , patterns don't have exactly the same dimensions . Still available from the dealer .
