FOUR L 0 head gasket

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Sun Oct 23, 2016 11:34 pm

Can you still get OEM head gasket(s) fm Yamaha in Canada - if not, what's the next best source without mailing costs equaling the value of the gasket? Recall Jon saying solid copper one's were the best. Thx in advance.

Still available in the UK so I'm sure your local yamaha dealer can supply one.

Best part was the TZR250 I seen at the dealer on display! Wow!!!!

HG gone.. already?
Copper proved a piss poor choice in my experiences.
But.. your experiences with the things may or may not vary. Living Is learning.
Have seen , or thought I saw, Repro LC gaskets mfg'd.. Just like RZ gaskets.. ie: out of 3 layers of thin Metal .
Now that would be worth trying imo, as Aftermarket RZ style HG s work every bit as well as OEMs
Also being the 3 leaves/metal style the things are not the ridiculous 2 mm thick fibre monstrosities Yama foisted on LCs to cover their warranty exposure asses.

To be honest the fact theyve survived until now is amazing, this is a part that only fits the LC (one for each size, 250 and 350) if Yam decided to discontinue it now then im not surprised.

Get your barrels O-ringed, then you never have to worry about a head gasket every again. :)

For the barrelled O rings - is there a head pattern/recipe for that move on a previous thread? That appears to be the logical move for ultimate squish.

Most people talk about O-ringing the head but milling the O-ring groove into the top of the cylinder barrel makes more sense. Solo2 did ,Ind and I'm sure he could explain how it is done.
