Need more mid range power
I am rebuilding my RD350LC. Rebuilt crank, new bearings, seals, etc.. What can I do to get more usable power, i.e. the 4000 to 7500 range? I know how to get more power from 7000 to 10000, but that is not where I ride most of the time.
Any suggestions??

Re: Need more mid range power
Fit a PV engine ?
For the LC you can try:
Fiberglass (oem yama ) reeds,
PWK carbs,
Zeel ignition

Re: Need more mid range power
375cc big bore, 56mm bore uses DT175 pistons, made my old LC feel much more torquey in the low to mid-range.

Sorry, that should be 64mm bore!

Re: Need more mid range power
64 is the stock bore. How does DT175 pistons of the same bore give you anything more??

Re: Need more mid range power
OK, DT175 is a 66mm bore. Which year pistons to use?? Is any modification to the pistons required? Any other information would be helpful.
Thanks.

Re: Need more mid range power
My 375cc conversion was done by Stan Stevens (UK). As far as I know the piston skirts have to be trimmed to the same height as the standard one's other than that I'm not sure.

Re: Need more mid range power
I went to a 520 chain setup and aluminum rear sprocket with a couple extra teeth to help address that area.

58mm stroke x 73mm bore. Mines got plenty of mid-range poke.
I'd rather ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow.
Re: Need more mid range power
remove those buck teeth in the inlet part of the cylinder...

Re: Need more mid range power
The cheapest mod is a set of 6mm reed spacers. Totally cured the midrange stumble on my bike.

Re: Need more mid range power
Yes. The 6mm reed block spacers smooth out the power band.
I also used Boysen 2 stage reeds, raised the exhaust port, mildly opened up the tranfer ports but didn't change the height or shape on the cylinder.
Also installed UFO spacers in the carb slides and adjusted jetting to match.
Wether it's my wishful thinking or not I found that the poweband isn't as abrupt as it used to be and has more get up and go

Not worth the Candle. Many believe What they choose to.
Logic often has little traction where Brochure Babbles have been effective
Arguably the Yama Crankcase volume is too small (so much for Crankcase stuffing adherents
Reed spacers.. Help.. a little bit.
