head skimming and reprofiling

#1 Post by AZRD350LCGUY » Thu Nov 10, 2016 3:29 pm

I would like to get my head skimmed and reprofiled.
The question is where to do it.
Any answers??

Told you before:

Unlikely to find better. Not too far away for shippings to be a deal breaker

Eric Gorr Racing also does a nice job on two stroke machines. He is located in the upper Midwest.

Gotta be something in south eastern AZ ?
Plenty two stroke machine shops around that can help you out.
Search your map and see, you might be surprised to find out what's in your town.
Found a banshee shop that's tits, ... 5 minutes from my house.

Scott Clough Racing! Scott did my barrels with stage 1 porting, fitted pistons, and re machined my head with domes set for compression, squish (perfect at 1mm upon assembly), my high local altitude, and fuel octane level. He also machined for an o-ring, so no more troublesome head gaskets! He does custom design profiles for every head based on the parameters you give him, and what your performance goals are. He's not far from you in the California desert.

I can't recommend him highly enough, This guy is the ultimate pro. (he also does land speed record motors). Here's the work he did for me..

Since I was sending him the LC top end, I also sent him the cranky bits to press up and true for an Aermacchi 2stroke I'm building (Harley Davidson SX-125). He's a multi-talented guy, and I'm NEVER working on just one bike.

Thats cool.working on more than 1 gives you options while waiting no parts. :smt038 :smt023

Yeah, except when you forget where you were, and where you put that box of parts you had to move somewhere so you'd have room to get that swingarm up on the bench, and trying to remember whether the spring washer went over the flat shim or under it...

In addition to Scott Clough. http://home.earthlink.net/~scloughn/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , who really is " The Guy" He does reprofiling for many people" there is also Harry Klemm in AZ, Lake Havasu. http://www.klemmvintage.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He's qualifued to do anything, and is also a experienced vintage builder and racer. If you know classic DG performance parts...you know Klemm. Either of these gentleman can build you classic or modern takes on your 2 stroke projects. There master's at what they do and are still at the cutting edge of development for our old bikes.

Between the two of them you have 80 years of 2 stroke racing knowledge! Think about that for a minute :smt002
