Elsie crank advise
Elsie crank advise
Hi guys
I'm restoring a 81 250LC and my crank rebuilder tells me only my outer webs are serviceable so after some searching found PJME, I'm looking at ordering the complete assembled center section, Rod kits which they say are Long Co rods and main outer bearings so my question is does anyone know the quality of the gear they sell?
Be my first time buying from over seas and just want to be sure I'm on the right track before biting the billet buying the crank parts and shipping back he to NZ, Looked up Yambits but was told to stay away from their cranks.
Cheers Jason

Re: Elsie crank advise
PJME are a well established and respected two stroke specialist here in the UK. my son has used them several times (he has an Aprilia RS125, for parts and engineering, rebores, crank rebuilds, etc, and their work has been nothing but superb.
Shipping costs might be a little high due to the weight though!

Re: Elsie crank advise
I have ridden around 3500 kilometers on my Yambits 4L0 crank. No issues at all. Quiet and smooth. Fit perfect. I used OEM seals though. I rev it out to the top constantly. I would and will be buying another one. Collecting parts to build another bike.
They are made in Taiwan.
Take a look at Norbos website too, he has rebuilt cranks and parts too, at the very bottom of his page of lc stuff.

I bought a complete LC crank from PJME. It has been on the road for about 1000 miles with no problems. Runs smooth and fit well.

Re: Elsie crank advise
I considered the Yambits crank but ended up getting my OEM cranks rebuilt. The end cost is essentially the same. The only real difference is going to be the OEM crank has OEM components and you know who built the crank. Who knows who builds the Yambits crank or what parts they use?

Re: Elsie crank advise
When you get the cranks, they need to be checked for run out, before you install them. Does not matter who builds them. If they check out and they run like crap, it's safe to assume the builder did not pay attention to balancing.

Re: Elsie crank advise
I purchased the center web from Yambits and have put several thousand miles on it without any problems. I had Crank Works in Tempe, AZ do the assembly. Good work and fair prices. I have purchased many parts from Yambits and never had a problem with quality or shipping.
My two cents worth.

Thanks for all the feedback most helpful.
Have gone with PJME so now just a waiting game for those parts, be interesting to see how long it takes for them to arrive.

One Can buy an OEM Yamaha banshee cank from:
http://www.procaliber.com/oemparts/a/ya ... aft-piston" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Other places may even be a few $ less search about.
RZ/banshee cranks are simply a superior design and can be fitted to an LC case with only Very Minor and inexpensive clearance flycutting.
And theres' No arguing that a fresh Yama made crank assembly is going to be good.

Re: Elsie crank advise
I'm in Sydney Oz and bought a PJME crank late last year for my 350LC engine rebuild, it would have been about the same amount of money to get my original crank rebuilt locally so I went with PJME, great service it was here in 5 days and fitted perfectly, I'm still running it in at the moment only done around 400kmGalant2NZ wrote:Thanks for all the feedback most helpful.

Re: Elsie crank advise
Yes from what I hear PJME are pretty good and I'm more than happy with service, got a email from them this morning with a tracking number, checked and in less than a day it has been picked up and is now on its way on a plane so yeah 5 days or so from order and will most likely be here.SP885 wrote:I'm in Sydney Oz and bought a PJME crank late last year for my 350LC engine rebuild, it would have been about the same amount of money to get my original crank rebuilt locally so I went with PJME, great service it was here in 5 days and fitted perfectly, I'm still running it in at the moment only done around 400kmGalant2NZ wrote:Thanks for all the feedback most helpful.

Was my only choice really as Yamaha wanted 3.5k for a new one and the only parts that could be found in NZ was 2 TKRJ rod kits a one Taiwanese web!
Re: Elsie crank advise
And of Course the UK is Much closer /cheaper to ship TO and From.... than One way from USA.
