Thanks for the link... very useful info there . I did see a manual cover and a Micrfiche listed there but I was unable to read them. All I could do was click on them. That just gave me a larger picture of the manual cover and the fiche card.
Maybe I missed something there.....

Oh sorry I thought thats where i got one once. To be honest I now have a paper copy of both the LC and RZ OEM manuals on my desk, next to them newish (and clean) Haynes manuals for both bikes as my indoor use references. In the garage I have tatty, dogeared and oily Haynes manuals (they came with purchases) for both bikes. For around $100 you can easily have yourself covered like this for manuals for your bike and never need to guess at anything. I do this now for any bike Ive bought.

And... Do download the parts books for your model(s), you will need them. I leave all the parts PDFs open on my computer all the time... Find the number, run it in google. plenty of good info will come back, its either cheap as chips from Partzilla, megazip etc or its nla and you can maybe find it used or NOS on ebay... the hard to find NOS parts are not easy to find, hence the name. But sometimes you get lucky. In the past year Ive bought 2 nos seats, F model fairing parts, bolts, cables and this week some LC wiring. Its out there if you're patient.

Jon
I will continue to look on line, not sure how successful I will be.
I have downloaded the parts manual already. I may try a dealer I know to see if I can get a digital copy from him.
Thanks for your advice...
I don't known why I never thought to google search by part# b4.... duh!
maybe I should have just kept that one to myself :smt021

many people still go to dealers, get them to look up parts and order from them, or take it on teh chin when a part is NLA and give up a search. The modern world helps us...

Maybe look to buy the manuals, The haynes is cheap and the OEMs come up often. honestly you wont be sad you did. Ive always said if you paid for a bike you can pay for the manual.

You are correct and I certainly will.... I just thought the OEM service manual would have been online as the parts manuals are. :smt023

Sorry, I checked all my links and didn't find any to the manual.
The Yamaha manual is hard to read. You have to hold the book sideways and go past other languages. Its hard to explain.
The Haynes sucks too because it covers too many models....

Colin
Thanks for checking, much appreciated. I know the Yamaha manuals of that era can be a PIA as they are mostly photo copies of a paper manual, and poor copies at that. A wiring diagram from one of these manuals would make better toilet paper. Would the Clymer Manual be the best choice if available?

i just checked the Clymer web site...... not listed.

I have 3 sevice maunals related to my Elsie (owners, shop, and supplementary) - I'm sure others have this combo. Rory is right about the photographic quality of current yammie sevice manuals is abysmal - I know cause I have an original and a newer version. I was excited to receive the newer version cause it still had the cellophane on it when I bought the bike. I have a pdf version of the Supplementary service manual if you want it to get started. PM me your email address as this site will not allow pdf extentions. I tried to attach it to this thread - nada.

Yes you need an original OEM manual from back in the day, the modern poor copies are a joke.

For an 82? no... for an RZ I agree, but not for an LC.

Thanks everyone I now have a used Haynes manual... paper copy . Looks to be pretty in depth and probably better than the factory issue as far as being able to see the pictures. I'm sure I can make use of this. :smt023
