On the plus side, the larger squish will add years to your engine's top end life. Shaved heads on the LCs were like making your engine a time bomb.
Shhhhhhhhhhh :smt004

Mine aren't shaved but they are running pretty minimal squish with the O-rings.

Looks GREAT :smt023

I like the flatter bars rather than the nasty OEM riser bars. Makes the bike feel more engaging to ride.

I rode the bike today to meet up with some other lc owners. Same engine set up as before paint work except now with factory head gasket and a measured squish of 1.6mm instead of the 1mm squish before paint job ( copper gasket). Definately flatter through the rev range. The bike used to power wheelie at 6500 when it came onto the pipe, now it doesn't. Also the bike ran hotter, needle past the half way point where before stayed under. There is probable only a few hp in it but it definately went better with a tighter squish, better throttle response to.

Heres a photo of piston top when the squish was at 1mm
To me it looks like the squish band is keeping the combustion away from the edge of piston. These barrels have had the exhaust port raised around 1.5mm, so i think the tighter squish returns some of the lost compression from the raised port. Compression test on this engine was 135psi both cylinders. Image

Wow, 4 LCs together. We never see that here.

The squish band is supposed to shove the fuel-air into the dome.
