I've got the TDR fibre reeds on my RZ and the Hi-Tech carbon reeds on my LC. Both are running OEM reed stops.

Haven't got any complaints with either.

As to midrange and bottom end, I honestly think one of the most important mods for an LC is a set of 6mm reed block spacers. This simple mod completely eliminates the 6000 rpm hole in the rev range. My bike will pull smoothly from 4000-5000 rpm all the way into the power band in 6th gear. No hole, no sputtering, no fuss.

Another thing worth doing is filing off all the rough edges and casting flaws from the reed cage. It takes a bit of time with a small file but it is worthwhile to smooth out air flow through the cage.

hey Hooli , did you put the spacer between carb and filter or cylinder and carb ?
thanks mark

Reed block spacer goes between the cylinder and the reed block. It pushes the reed block back a bit which increases the volume on the backside. And that apparently is what eliminates the midrange hole.

Not the clearest pic in the world but this is where it fits. Look closely and you will see: cylinder, spacer, reed block, carb manifold.

They are very simple spacers and inexpensive too.

With the TDR petals I purchased and the spacer(s), it should be an interesting ride b4 the rains come. I think I could DIY the spacers out of aluminum 5mm scrap I have access to. Peter about the reed cages, how much filing should I do - say a 1/2 mm? I have a spare set to practise on. Off topic but Evan how did that KR paint chip work out?

The spacers have to fit correctly between the carb rubbers and the cylinders so those 4 holes need to be drilled fairly accurately. They are cheap to buy. You'd spend more time making them than it would cost to just buy them.

For filing the internal edges of the reed blocks, you just need to remove any sharp edges and kind of smooth the edges where air will be flowing through the block. Once you get in there it becomes kinda obvious. The rubber moulding kind of limits how much can be taken off. It is not all that much that needs to be filed. There are just lots of different edges to attend to.
