Looks like good progress.
I wish i had some progress to report on my LC but i have none
Did you decide on the colors for the bodywork?

The blue decals are on their way from Reproduction Decals, decided on the white/blue. I thought about doing the Euro blue/gray, but I'm more than likely selling this one so I went with what I know people like. Also if I decide to keep it it's my favorite color scheme.2smoke wrote:Did you decide on the colors for the bodywork?

I'm a little behind schedule due to some problems figuring out my compression, had it apart and together so many times to do volume checks and squish measurements I can probably do it blindfolded now. Final figures are 6.85 trapped compression with 1.1mm squish, not optimal I know but it's essentially stock. Once it's all together and running I might redo the head, no time right now.
Engines in and passed a leak down test with flying colors, so now it's just some final fiddling and paint.

ITS ALIVE!! First start tonight, after a bit of fiddling got the idle at a steady 2000 RPM. Now it's just the usual first start stuff to fix up before break in, exhaust leak, carb bowl leak, oil pump adjustment etc. Now I have to go to work on the tank and plastics, if I'm lucky I might paint this weekend.
Will post some more pics tomorrow.

Note to self: remember to put screws into exhaust baffles or they will launch out on the highway.
Sounds very cool, very uncool walking the roadside for 2 miles to find them
I decided to forgo the paint and break the little monster in first. I went with a couple of short warm ups to get everything sorted out and now am in the process of doing the Mototune break in which I have used with great success on previous bikes...ride it like you stole it. This thing is much quicker than my RD400, lifts the front wheel quite easily. I'm very happy with the way this thing runs, better than I expected. I stayed with the stock jetting except for moving the main up to a 230. Tomorrow I'll do a plug check and pay more attention to the full throttle spectrum to see if we can make it even better.
Will definitely get some more pics up tomorrow.

Looks great!
One thing regarding the baffles, they will still fall out ( dont ask lol)
I drill a hole in the retaining bolt, and then safety wire around the horizontal bar in the baffle.
Cant wait for more pics!

As usual I didn't get as much done as I wanted, broke it in and put 150km on it on Sunday instead of doing other stuff, runs great, definitely running a little rich so that's OK. I've taken it back apart to start the paint work, my least favorite job of any project. Once it's all back together, I'll fine tune the jetting and fix a few little things that bug me. Here's a few pics of the machine work I did and a couple of the bike as it was yesterday, threw in one with my 500 just because I love it. The pics really don't do justice to how clean and new this thing is, could just be the paint or the light, I'll take some more without the body work on and post later.
Well, I sold the bike tonight, went to a good home in Calgary. Funny how a bike looks even better in the back of somebody else's truck as it drives away. I'll not likely ever have another as nice as that.
Oh well, more projects lined up in the garage, gotta finish the CB750 cafe, then the RZ500 gets the once over this winter and maybe have my tweeked LC for spring...or maybe turn the 350 air cooled track bike into a killer street machine.
Decisions...
