Got frames back from welders and one is a UK frame with log book and the other a German frame with German log book and Nova cert.

Problem is both numbers are correct but just so faint that any powdercoat or paint will pretty much obscure them :(

Would it be unwise to re punch the numbers clearer ?

I guess you would need exactly the right stamps and be very accurate ?

you could mask off the area over numbers

Yes, you'll never match it up. :(

I agree with Mark, mask the numbers before powder.

Was speaking to someone yesterday and here in the UK, the DVLA will accept a rubbing of the frame number before it's painted or powder coated but like you say it's probably best having it masked off

Interesting... Are the KR1S axles the same size as the RGV suspension?

The front share the same spindle but the rear on the RGV is quite a bit bigger and had to get made about 5 spacers/sleeves to get it to fit and still have the issue of getting the KR1S rear brake disc working in harmony with the RGV brake hanger !!!
They do both use the same rear brake caliper though

I started this years a go and do have 90% of the parts but still expensive stuff to get finished like getting the bodywork painted

I measured about 9mm offset for the sprockets and can get 5mm off the rear sprocket carrier as I had that done with my red LC and then hopefully will get a 4mm offset front sprocket to line it up

I asked as I have a similar issue with some Honda wheels I was looking to use, ta for the info.
Yes same caliper, so thats helpful, bit of measuring is all you need there.

Paint always seems to cost a small fortune, so i feel your pain.

I have yet to come across commercially available number stamps that match the size and font of the Yamaha ones. Purely out of curiosity of course.

I think I will leave them alone and get the area masked if I go for paint or powdercoat

Can't find my feckin cush drive for the KR1S wheel so will have to get a replacement then find someone with a lathe
Need a bracket to mount the YPVS servo too

Well the mudguard arrived but has cracks around the two top mounting holes each side which wasn't mentioned FFS

Have placed the mudguard on the bike though and I think can be made to fit with 2 little brackets :P

Anyone know anything about plastic welding

If your mud guard aka fender is made outta ABS plastic I do have a super cheap solution (literally) that worked on fixing my black LC side panels if interested. It only takes 2 ingredient and a wee bit of time to cook at room temperature. Other form members share the recipe and it was spot on.
