How far on reserve?

#1 Post by Hooligan » Sat Sep 29, 2012 1:37 am

Anyone know how far an LC will go once it hits the fuel reserve?

I got 180 kms on the main tank today but I'm not sure how quickly I need to find fuel once it hits the reserve and I'm way too old to be pushing a motorcycle to the nearest gas station.

Yes that's about right... Ran the gauntlet in 1982 with my rd250lc heading to the WA goldfeilds on a friday afternoon with a female pillion and got 30 km without running out - sat on about 80km / hr....

Wow 30km's, I can confirm I got @15km's and was glad I made it home.
I did forget to check how much was left when I filled her up.
But my RD runs premix and I fill it at home.

I rode my RZ for 12 miles on reserve once and was very nervous. I was in a part of the state where it was very rural and gas stations were few and far between. The particular town I tanked up at had a total of 2 gas stations and one was closed. Fortunantly, the remaining station was open and had gasoline. I shook the tank before filling and heard nothing moving inside. :smt042 For your metric system guys, that equates to about 14kms. :smt002

sorry to be a pain, but 12mile is closer to 19kms.
Don't mean to be a distance Nazi.
