RZ Reed Cages in an LC motor

I was comparing reeds on my two LC motors tonight and discovered much to my surprise that the project bike's motor has had RZ reed cages fitted. Upon comparing parts it seems this mod fits in nicely with the addition of some riser blocks (RZ cages are wider but shorter) and the use of RZ carb boots.

Anyone know anything about this mod? While the RZ reeds are clearly much wider than the LC cages, I don't know what effect this would have on the motor's power characteristics?

The RZ reeds that I have appear to be Boysen dual stage and the reason I was comparing bits is that I have discovered the other motor has the OEM steel reeds. I was planning to swap reeds but quickly discovered that isn't going to work.
