I use to have a center stand on a length of chain as a emergency stop.If the brakes fail I threw it over board and clang on, hoping to hook something or someone heavier than me.
But they told I couldn't do it so now I just use the side stand, it's lighter I can carry it in my pocket.I just stick it in the front wheel spokes, works a treat. :smt047 :smt003

After I had a center and side stand break, I just lean my bike on something when I get somewhere. It does take some planning to know where you're going so you can scope out your destination and find a good place to lean the bike too(wall, tree, pole other bikes, etc). :smt003
I'm thinking something like this.

All joking aside, I did have a center stand break at one of the legs welds. The side stand is no better at holding the bike even on a slight incline(need to remember to leave the bike in gear. Thanks John).

I haven't heard anyone mention the desire to preserve the bike as stock. That's one of the pleasures I get out of my RZ and other classic cars as well, representing them as original as the day they left the showroom. Nothing against modded bikes, there are some sweet bikes out there. Don't get me wrong. I just happen to like the nostalgia aspect of originality. That's why I keep my mickey mouse rear view mirrors, original exhaust and turn signals:) And (heavy) center stand:) Cheers-

So much easier to clean the chain and change tires w/ a stock center stand.
