Frame

#1 Post by Juicebox » Mon Apr 07, 2014 4:02 pm

Hey guys, I need a frame really bad, and this one is for sale about 20 minutes from me. What is a frame worth, and do you see any glaring problems with this one? Link is below. Thanks.

Do they have a pink for the frame? One with a pink is worth more money because of less headaches. If you can get a vin number you can check it here. https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Sent them a message asking about the frame, but have not heard back yet. I was hoping the shipping of $220 would scare people away, but nooooooooooo! Already up to $150, and i'm not sure how hard it is to come by a frame. Never needed one before.

Hey Juicebox.
If you look at the bid history on the listing, it's the same guy doing all the bidding, (I suspect that it's the seller)
He bid $30. Then an hour later he bid $60. 8 minutes after that he bid $100. And 11 seconds later he bid $125.

Ebay sucks. I'd be tempted to send him the following mesage.

Dear ebay seller.
I appears that some irresponsible ebay member has been placing numerous bids on your item,
and has now driven the price up to an unreasonable amount.
It's unfortunate when this happens because it ruins your listing and wastes your time.

if, as I suspect, the frame does not sell, please contact me, and I will give you $50 for it, and will pick it up to save you the trouble of shipping.

Best Regards,
Mr. Concerned Citizen

Thanks for looking out for me Off-Road, but that was me making those bids. I kept putting bids in, but it was never enough. Got a little carried away, but I would still be happy to pay $150 and go pick it up. Without a frame, my project is dead in the water for now. My beautiful freshly red powder coated frame had the center stand mounts cut off. I need them to use a NK kit for mounting a VJ21 swingarm. So if I get this frame, there may be a beatiful red frame for sale cheap, if someone doesnt need the center stand mounts. I still may be able to get it mounted without the center stands, McQueen showed me how he did it, but I wouldnt know where to go to get the necessary parts machined. Thanks again.

Hey Juicebox. Too funny.

I guess I'm just skeptical and overly suspicious of ebay sellers.
That's too bad about your frame, and now that it's powder coated, you can't just weld on some new tabs.

Hope the ebay frame works out for you

I still have my RZ frame and it is for sale. I still have the title.

The only problem is that it has been braced and was modified to fot the r6 shock. I was using a SpecII solo seat and removed some of the brackets I did not need using the Solo Seat. Still has side stand mount. Missing center stand mount. It is red and really needs a paint job.

I parted the bike out years ago due to an power valve ignitiion issue. Was not riding bike and parted it out for more than I felt I could for a bike with an electrical issue.

I am in South Carolina. Have no clue to shipping cost. I know it will not be cheap

Do a search for my user name and you can see some images of it as a rolling frame before I finally parted it out.

I can send current images if interested.

$125 plus shipping

Thanks, but the whole reason I was looking for a new frame, was because I need the center stand mounts. I got the one off ebay for $150 and will pick it up in a couple of days. Thanks for the offer.

Just picked up my frame today, and it seems nice and straight. It has some grime on it, as well as a couple of spots with surface rust. I am going to take it in for powder coating, and I was wondering if having it sand blasted would clean it, and get the surface rust off, or should I remove that stuff myself before having it blasted and coated? Thanks.

Sand blasting will get the surface rust off. If it is just surface rust it will be gone with a good blasting and if the person doing the powder coating takes pride in their work they will blast away all rust before attempting to apply the powder coat finish.

Make sure the powder coating that you are using is UV Safe. You do not want it to fade.

Thanks for the advice. Do I need to make sure the coater does these things, or is that standard procedure for a job like this. I have a different frame with some powder coating on the threads, dont want that again.

Nice score on the frame!
Just a little advice(of course you don't have to take it :smt001) is to have the frame checked for straightness before attaching a bunch of parts to it(like I did).
Ask around with the local racers to see who does it in your area. It would be the best time to do it since its just the frame.

Thanks for the tip, but I wouldn't know where to find any racers. Not into the scene. If you have some advice for that, let me know.
