RD350B front brake line

I was doing a little welding around my RD (setting up a headlight mount) and I accidentally touched my braided steel one piece front brake line. I had put the line on there back when i was road racing, pre 1981. The bottom fitting on the RD doesn't contain the usual banjo and that is all i see for sale are dual banjo brake lines.

Does anyone have any idea where i might locate a brake line with the fittings needed Maybe clue me in as to what the lower fitting and adapter is?

I have had this bike since 75, had Roger at Wicked do the top end for me. Runs nice but am afraid of the plastic tubing developing an aneurysm without it's steel braid.

This line has the correct fitting for the RD http://www.economycycle.com/servlet/the ... sh-/Detail

But you can also remove the flange from the caliper and run a standard banjo/bolt. It's a small domed shaped fitting in the caliper where the banjo bolt goes. Run a drywall screw into it couple three turns and pull it out with pliers. Then you can use standard fittings.

Interesting I have owned this bike for 39 years and never heard that it can be done, Do you have to thread the caliper to fit the hollow bolt for the banjo. What bears on the inside, is it smooth enough to seal.

You won't use the lower hard line, the caliper is threaded, no mods whatsoever other than above. At that point its just like the rear caliper except you would use a 10x1.0 standard banjo bolt and brake line with regular banjo fitting. Much simpler that way and cheaper for lines. If you run a single line from mc to caliper, you'll need a pressure switch for the brake light as you'll bypass the brake manifold, but you can use a banjo bolt pressure switch at the mc for that, works fine.

Mine is a single line now, just as you had in the link It has the male-male adapter on the caliper end. I would agree that dueling banjo's would be the way to go. My followup was that i was concerned that the caliper did not have a smooth enough mounting boss for the crush washer and that the insert in the caliper (that you removed) wouldn't either bugger the threads or was just a press fit without threads.

yeah that flange is just a light press fit, smaller diameter then the threads/opening and will come right out without damage to the caliper threads. No problem with the crush washer mounting boss, same as the rear which uses a standard banjo and crush washer. I use straight fitting at the mc and a 90 degree down at the caliper. Not sure why Yamaha went with that flange and hard line, seems to unnecessarily complicate things.

I am looking at this problem and noticed that the threads on my Banjo (off a Honda, was in my spares drawer) don't match up to the threaded in adapter. What thread am i looking for?

10x1.0 for RD front caliper (rear is 10x1.25).

Thanks, the rear is a rod driven mechanical brake. My original master cylinder is at my other house. Perhaps it is a 10x1.0. Maybe I will be buying a new Banjo for this adaption. I measured the thread and it was about .o49 for the honda and the adapter for the RD it was .o39 which corresponds pretty close for your findings.

I was referring to the caliper. The mc on the 350 is 10x1.25. Forgot you had a 350, the 400 has a rear caliper.
