RZ cases in TZR frame?

#1 Post by evan_calgary » Wed Feb 18, 2015 1:11 pm

Wondering if anyone has knowledge on if RZ or RD cases will fit in a TZR 1KT or TZR 4DL frame? I know the info is out there but owndering if anyone has seen it done. I have always wanted a repli-racer but its going to take me a long time to assemble all the proper TZR bits so may throw in a RZ/RD motor in the meantime...

I have an RZ350 engine on a TZR250 3XV frame with TZR250 3XV bodywork and suspension. The bike is at RGVSteve house and for sale

I pm'ed you giron.

Personally looking at putting this in one of the older frames or if I am going newer then buying the smaller 125 4DL frame..

I strongly recommend the TZR250 3XV or 3MA suspension over the 1KT

Thanks for the links!

Any specific reasoning giron? Still need to talk further about your project.

I really want something small that shreds.

The brakes on the 3XV are dual brakes in the front and wider wheels

Is it still for sale?

How much do you want for it?

Yes RGVSteve is finishing making brackets for the side original TZR250 3XV body work. I lost interest in this project and Steve is building three more projects. I'm asking $1500.00 and is street legal.

I used to sell a kit for the 1KT........it's not to hard to make a cradle the only thing is the pipes, really need to be made to fit the bike.

And then a 4DL which I built around 6 years ago

A really old thread, I know, but was wondering if the rear engine mounts work as is?

Can't remember. I have one of each in the garage so I could likely measure the spacing @ the back.

For anyone considering a TZR350 you need to know it is not a cheap thing to do. When I discovered I needed to rebuild a TZR motor here I decided to build a TZR350. Then I inquired on to the cost. The cradle and pipes were close to $1800 and then I still needed to buy silencers. Then you need a complete RZ350 motor, which should be rebuilt, plus a complete RZ350 electrical system, from the stator and flywheel to the harness, CDI and PV controller. Then you have issues with front fairings that will no longer fit properly. So, anyone thinking about it better have the ability to dig deep into his pocket because it quickly gets very expensive. Then you have a TZR worth considerably less than a stock TZR in the collector world.

A good local friend of mine has one with Glyn's cradle and pipes and it is a wonderful thing and goes like a scalded cat. I love looking at it in his garage, but have no regrets about doing mine 100% stock.

I would now build a TZR350 for my collection if I found a cheap TZR in really nice condition with a blown motor, although that seems very unlikely.

These days I'm thinking TDR350 :-)
