With all this good work you should start a thread for your bike in the projects sub forum :)

Re: got my calipers back from the powder coaters
Its beginning to look like a bike again :) I don't have many pics of the bike before I started taking it apart but will try to keep a photographic record of it as its coming together.
The powder coating covers the entire caliper and I'm concerned the two mating surfaces needed to stay bare metal. Is there a down side to leaving the calipers as is in the pic? If I have to remove the coating what would be the best method without damaging the rest of the caliper?
cheers and thanks
Norm

Wire wheel it very carefully, then trim up with wet n dry paper.
Re: got my calipers back from the powder coaters
I would do as LB says, you can also use a powerfile if youre gentle and even paint stripper on the larger surfaces, but be vigilent, your call, but go slow is my advice.

Re: got my calipers back from the powder coaters
What if I tape up the calipers and sandblast off the coating. Would it work? I have access to a sandblaster

Well, I tried the sandblasting and eh..... nope barely scratched the surface. Man that stuff is tough. Got out the pneumatic tool and a pad and off the powder coat came :)
Re: got my calipers back from the powder coaters
And, youve now got blasting media in em as well to clear out... Do that very well...

Re: got my calipers back from the powder coaters
I prepped them pretty good before I tried blasting. Taped them all up. Nothing got in but will be power washing them before the re-installJonW wrote:And, youve now got blasting media in em as well to clear out... Do that very well...
