Rear Wheel: RD350 YPVS x RD500 x FZ600 (86-88) Measures ?

#1 Post by mceoni » Mon Jun 01, 2015 11:13 am

Hello,

I bought a 88 FZ600 Swingarm and installed w/ a CBR600F4 on my RD350YPVS.
I also bought a RD500 Rear wheel, trying to gain 0.5' on my rear wheel...but I wasnt able to install.

So, keeping the "original look", we could use any of these:

RD350 -> 18x2.50
FZ600 -> 18x2.75
RD500 -> 18x3.00

As I said, I tried to put RD500 on FZ600 Swingarm but it doesnt fit keeping the RD350 Sprocket Hub.
It is not just the rim that is wider, but also the brake rotor base...
So, I was wondering :smt017 : Is there any difference between RD350 Sprocket Hub x FZ600 x RD500 ??

Here, in Brazil, we never ever had a chance to see a RD500 in person, or the older FZ600 (it never came here :smt010 )...so if anyone could give me tips, I would really appreciate it! :smt041

Maybe the sprocket hub measures would be usefull information!

Tks! :smt023

The rz350 and the fz600(86-88) use the same cush drive on the rear wheels.
The 500 has a different cush drive(bigger). The 600 wheel fits a 130 tire comfortably.
The 500 wheel is big and heavy. The 600 wheel is lighter.
I don't think the 500 will work, as you said, its a wider casting in the middle.

Also without the on/off power band of the RZ500 there is NO actual need/advantage with the wider rubber.
No massive power / torque 'hit' in the middle of a knee rubbing sweeper situation
Except if doing it for appearance.
