PVC seal driver size?
Hey guys, I'm about to tear into my forks and install new seals but lo and behold I don't have a 35mm seal driver! What size pvc have you folks used to do forks in the past? 35mm converts to 1.37", which my hardware store sadly does not stock

If you're going to work on your own stuff why not spend the money for the right stuff? Plastic "tools" do not work as well as metal. The additional weight makes the job much easier.

I would love to invest and get the proper tool, but being on an island in the middle of the Pacific means I'm a week away from getting the proper size by mail and I plan to accomplish this today. Thanks for the input though

I wouldn't have thought that there could have been drawbacks to living on an island in the middle of the Pacific, but there you go. I think the last (and only) time I did mine I used a piece of rigid electrical conduit (sorry, can't remember the size) and turned the old seal upside down to put against the new seal to protect it, gives you a broader range of tubes you can use.boogie dude wrote:..being on an island in the middle of the Pacific means I'm a week away from getting the proper size by mail and I plan to accomplish this today.

I made one years ago and still use it. 1.5 inch i.d. ABS pipe. Bevel the end used to drive seals. ABS is much easier to work with than PVC.

Not much of a plan. Being on an island in the middle of the Pacific I'd think you'd have learned to plan ahead by now.boogiedude wrote:.............I plan to accomplish this today
