Will 88 gaugues fit under an 84 headlight fairing?

#1 Post by 350YPVS » Thu Aug 27, 2015 9:57 pm

I have an 1988 Canadian bike but really like the look of the older models with the round headlight and fairing. Can the 88 gauges be mounted with an earlier style fairing and headlight (I currently have an early modes fairing stay but wanted to check before I start hacking things up)?

Also, will the chin fairing that you see on earlier models fit on an 88 as well?

Thx, J

Tentative 'yes'... it wont be 5mins work, but the clocks are much the same size tho they use different mounting points and the bracket fits to the triples which have much the same bolts etc.

Im using TDM850 clocks under an 83/4 chin fairing with the same bracket on RGV triples...

Since you mentioned TDM850 Jon, now is good time for me to mention that TDM850 front foot pegs are identical to 86-90 RZ350 front foot pegs. The hangers are different, but the pegs are exactly the same, including the rubber. Good to know now that 86-90 front foot pegs are rare and expensive. TDM pegs are far cheaper and much easier to find. German eBay is a good place to pick them up.

Ohhh cooool! Cheers John! I remember well having to source a footpeg from you when I hit one recalcitrant bolt with an impact driver and cracked one of those cast pegs in half :(
