RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
Has anyone weighed their hybrid before or got a decent approximate total weight? I'm just looking to find out the weight difference between a standard VJ22 RGV250 and an RZ350 fitted with RGV wheels, suspension and brakes. Considering the steel frame, larger tank and heavier motor I know the weight of an RZ hybrid will be a decent bit more than a standard RGV but I'm not sure by how much?
I'm after this info to find a good starting point with ordering firmer springs for the RGV forks in my RZ. Racetech have an online calculator ( http://racetech.com/ProductSearch/2/Suz ... ngRateCalc ) to give you a ballpark spring weight if you know the weight of the bike but unfortunately I've got mine apart for painting at the moment! Would like to order some new springs to get that sorted while I wait for the paint to be finished.
Racetech list the following weights for the stock standard bikes: 127kg for the RGV250 and 168kg for the RZ350 both "semi wet". So a RZ350 hybrid will be considerably lighter than a standard bike but I'm not sure how much by? If you can help with any info that would be great!

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
Im not sure there will be that much in it. The RZ parts may seen heavy but when you add the larger brakes and other bits n bobs back into the equation I reckon its only a few kgs different. Id like to say it was much lighter, but its probably not. Interesting to see what people who have a built RZ get.

I'm with Jon...probably only slightly lighter. No where close to the RGV. The bits are made of lighter material but are bigger and beefier. There is weight lost in the RGV frame, bodywork, etc, etc. All else equal I doubt your below 160 just with the swap.

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
RGV wet weight is approximatley 330 lbs
RZ350 wet weight is 370lbs
I guess a RZ framed bike w RGV running gear to weigh in about 10-15 lbs less using stock components. Thats a wet weight all "stock components". But in reality without stock exhuast using any aftermarket pipe. Your going to lose 20 lbs there, ditch centerstand and other usual non essentials you can add another 10 lbs of reduction, So in reality you could have a RZ trimmed down to around 335- 340 lbs.
"wet weight" of couse, dry weight #s are like most dyno numbers not realistic.

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
In the US I agree that losing the stock pipes would save a lot of weight due to the cats, but the ROW pipes were not quite as heavy. Ok, yes still heavier than aftermarket but not quite as much, we have to remember that we are an international forum :)
I do agree that adding lightness to the RZ means losing non essential items like the c/stand and also the fairing if youve a full fairing. Running a small digi dash would help too I guess. plenty of places to shed some weight.
Of course, many of us could stand to lose 10-15lbs ourselves, maybe thats the better way LOL

Were your pipes the same as stock Canuk pipes?
I just gave a set away I've had for years, ? They were boat anchors, maybe only 2-5 lbs lighter combined than US pipes with cats. I held side by side too close to call for me, I didn't weigh them vs each other, only vs my aftermarket pipes.

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
Thanks guys, funnily enough I got a call from the painter that my body work is ready to pick up anyway so I should be able to get my bike together and weigh it to confirm what springs to go with quite soon. I dont have a fairing, centre stand or any of that sort of thing, also I've got an aftermarket dash, pipes etc. I haven't specifically been trying to save weight (thats a nice side effect!) , more interested to see what the weight difference to a standard RGV is because the standard RGV forks and rear shock felt way too soft on the RZ and it's a lot easier to just order fresh springs suited to the correct weight :)

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
I have my RZ currently down to about
298 lbs " dry" on a unreliable scale. So that puts me around 315 lbs., as it it runs no headlight/ indicators/street plate / or attached YZR uppers etc..(My goal )is to stay the same after completion, but but from this point further weight saving gets very expensive.
Regardless It will be the lightest most powerful RZ I've ever had, . So I'll be more than happy when the lil girls all done. She isn't a TZ nor a old school Liter bike but a nice 50/50.

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
It seems Racetech's spec of 127KG for the VJ22 was incorrect, that's in fact the semi-wet weight of the VJ21. The VJ22 is reportedly 139KG dry so they seem to have got that confused on their site. So anyway I've just got my RZ back together and put it on the scales, amazingly it's 137KG with all fluids except fuel so it's not that different to an RGV after all. The RZ tank is bigger so fully fueled up she's potentially going to be a little heavier than the RGV but there's not as much in it which isn't what I expected at all. Your results may vary!

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
Intresting, I won't tell you how I weighed mine..but it wasn't ideal...lol. Your post is kinda inspiring. I'd be stoked if I brought my bike in under 300 lbs. Time will tell, hopefully in the next year or two.

Here she is "assembled" for weighing purposes haha. So she's not fully finished yet but still complete to get a ballpark weight to sort out the suspension :) Will take some nicer pics when I've finished everything and given it a wash but this is a preview!
Ordered a Nitron R2 shock for the back to play with the ride height as it's sagged quite a bit in this photo with the standard RGV shock. Will also be ordering some firmer fork springs to finish it off. So close!

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
Thanks! And nope, current plan for the front is heavier Ohlins springs and Racetech gold valves (Racetech don't make a heavy enough spring rate for what I'm after).JonW wrote:That looks great!

Re: RZ350/RGV250 hybrid bike weight?
Interesting, with the bars up higher the weight should be back a bit compared to an RGV, worth bearing that in mind perhaps?
