Rear shock bumper

#1 Post by concours » Thu Feb 04, 2016 2:43 pm

The (what I think used to be a red rubber) bumper in my rear shock has fossilized, crumbled and fell out. Any options? Any fixes you guys have done? Sorry if it's been covered, I searched.... :smt023

I dont thin anyone has remade these for the LC/RZ, they should though, even much more modern shocks have them crumbling. perhaps cast the net a bit wider and see whats available for ducati or other bikes?

If the bumpstop is that bad the shock ain't far behind it. Penske is about your only option brand new. And seeing what a used Fox goes for these days probably the best option. By the time you buy a Fox,spring and service you've bought a new shock.

If your budget doesn't include a new one measure the shaft and find one to fit. Try Race Tech,Factory Connection,MX Tech for a few.

A qualified suspension shop, might be able to substitute one? But at what cost? Probably not worth the investment, unless your after pure orginality.
As far as new shocks, In addition. To Penske, other "new "shocks are Hagon, Works, Ohlins, Nitron, and a few others I can't think of right now.
A great replacement road shock at a really good price is Hagon, I think it was running about $360-$400 US dollars.
There a UK based companies same for Nitron. Don't know if that's beneficial if your in OZ or not? Other posts make it sound pretty expensive there on import /trade. This is from their US distributor.

Unless Motocrossing.. Small chance of running into/needing the Bump stop.
LC's had NONE fitted oem RZ's did.
But.. for Shopping riding? why bother?

Refer SSM in the twin clicker post for those looking for an alternative fix to tie them over whilst saving for a new shock.
