I rode a CBR500R and thought it was closer to the RZ than any other new bikes I have ridden, at least in terms of handling and braking. It felt underpowered but was easy to ride and felt light and nimble. It runs a 160/60 rear and 120/70 front.

I sat on a CB500F, so didn't get the riding experience, but I kind of thought the same thing. It felt compact and fit me. But there are a million of them out there and they don't wail like a 2-stroke.

So maybe I should try the 3.5" wheel I have, with a 120 tire, and if it handles too slow I can always change it.

Ordered a Katana wheel off eBay yesterday - $21.45USD! Even with conversion to CDN and shipping, it's pretty cheap. Hope it's OK. Will need a GS500 cush drive but that should be easy enough to find.

Anyway, it's 4.5" wide, so I was thinking a 150 tire should work and keep the handling fairly quick.

120/60 = lower profile = smaller diameter = quicker handling? Is that why you're saying 120/60 not 120/70 Giron?
