+1 to a lot of whats been said.

The RGV front end also limits lock, but thats only noticeable when moving the bike round in the garage, on the road you lean/countersteer more than 'actual steer' of course.

Wheels is easier than you think, most are made by the same suppliers and look about right if you get them close, theyre far enough apart that they dont need to be exactly the same in every way.

Spend the summer collecting parts when the good deals come up and save it as a winter project. That way you will also be familiar enough with the bike to assess the actual impact of your modifications.

Good advice RuZty, and there's a good chance that's how it'll play out. BUT, and I'm sure you've all been here... I'm pretty psyched about it and want to do it NOW. I'm pretty patient in a lot of ways but when it comes to internal combustion and 2 wheels, common sense sometimes takes a back seat. Also, it's good to ask questions and learn while I'm looking for parts.

Glad to hear the USD forks aren't a problem on the road. As I said before, they just look right on the RZ.

And yeah, that makes sense on the wheels. If I go with say, a ZX9 3-spoke front and say, an SV650 rear, once painted, they're going to be very close.

Sorry to hijack as a first post, but could NSR 250 mc18 not work as an option for front and back? Oh and hi to all, again sorry for the hijack.

I have been there, and am still there, that's why it is good advice. I now have a riding bike and a building bike, just so that I can enjoy one without compromising the other.

Awesome! Your bike is really nice and clean, like it came from the factory with modern suspension.

I see you have the RGV swingarm. What forks?

How's she handle?

no the swingarm is a TZR250 3xv SP. The wheels are RGV250 and the forks are RGV250 SP VJ22. The calipers are six pistons from a GSXR750. It doesn't need to much pressure to stop. It handles like on rails.

Sorry, I just saw the "banana" profile and thought RGV. Now I see the difference.

Where did you get the single seat cowl? Looks really good.

Found this one:

http://www.classicracereplicas.com/Yama ... th-Pad-New" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is that yours? Couldn't find anything from Germany. If you have a link, please post it.

I've been looking at all the pictures I can find on fitting the RGV swingarm and it's obviously way different from your Yamaha swinger. I've been focusing on the adaptor plates that attach to the center stand mounting bracket, with the longer dog bones. The only problem with it is that it all hangs down pretty low and it might be a problem to mount GP style pipes, which I might want to do in the future. I've seen RGV swingarms with GP pipes though, so I'm not sure.

I had a VJ23 that RGVSteve did the fitting. The problem was that I wanted GP pipes. You may be able to run DG conventional with the brackets on the center stand. I had Brian Turfrey fitted the TZR250 swingarm and he build the pipes for me. I'm very happy with it. Brian's pipes are awesome.

I just remembered where I saw the VJ swingarm with GP pipes - Charlie's bike from page 1 of this post. Sorry Charlie, my brain's a bit overloaded from all this stuff[smilie=dontgetit.gif]

So how did you attach the swinger/shock/linkage and fit the GP pipes?

I didn't do the modifications on the TZR250 3XV swingarm. Brian Turfrey did the conversion
