Rear Caliper seals?

#1 Post by justind97 » Mon May 09, 2016 7:43 am

Hey guys,

I have two different styles of calipers I took apart recently to overhaul. No pictures at the moment, however 1 is fairly small with pad pin spacing of about 30mm ish?

And the other is a Sumitomo caliper, 40mm ish pad pin spacing.

I have the piston seal kits already.

My question is, is there a part number for the 2 flat O-ring seals for the fluid channels to pass from side to side on the calipers? The parts fiches make no mention of them.

Of course the two calipers I have have different sized o rings.

TIA!

I was actually the one to ask that question. I didn't even realize I did! However no one responded.

As you say the parts fiche doesn't show the seals as a seperate part, and it does say in the Yamaha workshop manual "WARNING Never loosen the bridge bolts of the caliper halves". Looks like Yamaha didn't intend the two caliper halves to be seperated for repair.

Hi, this is my first post.

I calculated the cross section of the old flat rubber seals, adding a 5% for permanent set. Calculated back how much volume will be with a standard O-ring, and went to the hardware store. 1$ each, installed, still there after one year w/o any leaks.

Hope is useful.
