Hi,
I was wondering if i need a special seal kit for my 1985 RD350 (31K with needle swing arm bearings) front and rear brake caliper.
There are a lot of kits for 1983-1984 but nothing for 1985.
Did they change the brakes in 1985?
Found this numbers in the Yamaha parts catalogue for 1985:
51L-W0047-00 (same for all 3 calipers), bit 40€ for each set is quite expensive for 4 rubber rings...
Does anyone know a part number (also other brands) for the seal between the 2 parts of every brake caliper?
From the RD500 I know that Yamaha doesn`t sell this seal but I want to split them up for cleaning and painting and replace the seal later.

Re: Brake piston seal kit
For the seals between the caliper halves, there's a company on eBay out of England. Powerhouse-UK
There's different sizes, measure yours before ordering

Re: Brake piston seal kit
Thanks for your answer.
I will disassemble them during the next days/evenings.
Did some research yesterday evening.
31K 83/84 brake calipers have just one piston, from 85 to the end of production they have 2 pistons per caliper.
They also need different brake pads.
Found this one:

I just don`t need the pistons...
But if the seals are from Yamaha as shown on the picture maybe worth the money (80€ only for the seals from the Yamaha dealer)

Re: Brake piston seal kit
Yes, the 85 31K has the front brakes of the later 1WW models.
Not 100% sure about the rear.

Re: Brake piston seal kit
By the way, which paint do you use to get the original finish of the brake calipers?
Maybe a bit more resistant than the original.
Was thinking about thin epoxy based powder coating.
Doesn`t need to be perfect, the 350 is just my daily driver.
