Chinese "Brembo" Calipers?

#1 Post by 2bang » Thu Aug 25, 2016 9:41 pm

Anyone know anything about these Chinese knockoff calipers labeled "Brembo" that are all over the auction site??

Like these:

Are they TOTAL junk? Usuable as a cheap alternative?

Be nice if they're actually decent/usuable.... dang cheap... (which probably answers the question lol)

My annoyance is these will begin to show up on the used parts market and have to sort way through the fakes when searching for the real once. Sure its not big deal when its obvious but Chinese are darn good at making cheap authentic looking copies over times. Just see rolex watches...

If they were capable of making a quality high end product from scratch they wouldn't need to steal someone else's name to sell them, and the effort required to achieve that would command a suitable price.

I don't think any one that has seen a real Brembo caliper would ever confuse these with the real thing.
Here is a picture of a real brembo: http://www.sp125racing.com/uploads/1/5/ ... 33.jpg?334" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It is easy to tell the difference.

They, the asian manufacturers, can make a comparable product, but who is going to buy a Jaing Dong caliper? Not me, but it is easy to see a market for a Jaing Dong caliper with a Brembo trademark on it.

...you guys do know that you can buy a "clip on" caliper covers:

Nissin makes good stuff too and there are plenty of Chinese knock offs. The Chinese can make good stuff but only when they are forced to. For now, get the best 'real' stuff you can and make the Chinese get better.
Red/White US '84, Spec II pipes, Y-boot w/K&N, Fox Shock, Mikuni carbs?

But in all seriousness....
I never meant to suggest that those are a "high end" product....
Only wondered if they're simply a decent product.
If a TRUE copy.... and well engineered, good quality materials..... (factor in cheap chineese labor) only minus the expensive exotica...
They might have been a reasonable alternative....

I mean.... "who would buy a Tokiko.. or Nissin" for that matter...
But if these were the quality of those....
I'd consider it.

Ya, its easy to tell the difference now...have you seen a knock off rolex from 10 years ago versus today? The old ones used to turn your hands black and made of iron, the new ones are near perfect in weight and apprearance. Things improve and the Chinesse are very good at replicating the 'looks'. In time they will get better at the image side of things and who knows about the quality.
