Organic pads 84 RZ with R6 Calipers

#1 Post by 75RD350rider » Tue Jun 27, 2017 9:01 pm

The unknown sintered pads that were in the used R6 calipers I bought for my conversion were almost new so I ran them and it stopped great. By the end of the Deals Gap meet they had devloped a squeal on hard stopping and were making a lot of dust. My friend Mark Haase recommended EBC organic and the difference is quite remarkable. It stops.way better than before... and no noise... $68 shipped from Motorcycle Superstore...

Sintered are really designed for racing use, EBC Organics are designed for the road so more everyday friendly. I have both types in my bikes, I prefer the more road oriented pads these days since I dont do any track work.

Sounds right to me Jon. When you have brake squeal, you are not braking hard enough for the pads. As a result, they vibrate, causing the squeal. Ask me how I know.

In the 80's, I worked as a service advisor. Some people would come in to the dealership complaining of brake squeal. Won't go away. I'd ask a few questions about riding. Then I'd have them ride around the block and stop on the side of the road in front of the shop. I could watch them. Then I'd explain to them how to brake. Some would understand. The next trip, they'd pull around, stop and whoa, no brake squeal. They were amazed. The others? I had to take their bike for a trip around the block and stop in front of them, no noise. This would finally get them to clue in. Brake harder to eliminate the vibration. This also meant they had to change their riding habits, otherwise they were stopping long befor the stop signs and lights. It's all about getting people out of their comfort zones and boosting their confidence.

Ok... Orange anti squeel Goop works!
Almost a 100% solution to Brake squeel from vibrating /loose fitting pads.
Very small profit margins in putting some on though.

The orange stuff does work, either the copper slip style that aids movement or the silicone style stuff that sets up on the pistons, but latter is horrible to remove later if you put too much on.
