Triumph Calipers List

#1 Post by silverstrom » Sat Jul 01, 2017 11:14 pm

Howdy Gents

A (long) while back there was info posted concerning which Triumph front calipers would bolt straight on to the F1 and F2 with 83 mm bolt spacing. I've searched, but I can't find it. I'd appreciated it if someone can post the link, or post the list.

I know Speed Four fit. I've measured them myself.

TT600 as well?

Do they use a 14 mm front master cylinder

Many thanks

John

I'm good Jason. Hope you're doing well.

Haven't been riding yet this year, but I've healed enough to give it a go, so soon hopefully. Still planning the next build and gathering parts, hence, the Triumph caliper questions. It's easier than having adapter plates made.

2004 Daytona 600 worked for me. two failed rebuilds on rz calipers led me there. I did have some success on the rz ones but only after putting new pistons in, which added up $$$. i needed 2 more pistons so i gave the triumphs a go.

so long as the calipers look like the correct ones in my pics you should be fine, but appreciate its not always easy to get pics, especially dealing with a wreckers over the phone etc.

Good to see you back and hear youre healed John!

I have my eye on a nice pair of low mileage Speed Four calipers. They look new. I'll likely grab those shortly. Still need to locate the correct size master cylinder, which should be 14 mm. Does that sound right Jon?

Well, I actually have a funny sized Brembo radial on mine, but yes 14mm may work, tho the OEM yamaha on our bikes is 5/8, and that works well for most people. Maybe try that first if your OEM is good still?

EDITED: 5/8 is almost 16mm... maybe 14 would be a bit small? but really its down to personal preference. Id really try the 5/8 and see what you think if you have that already, try a 1/2 as well if you have that... I'd be wary of buying a 14mm unless you didnt like the others, or really wanted to replicate the OEM triumph setup, and thats still assuming the OEM is 14mm as to me it sounds a bit small for 2 x 4 pots, but im not an expert like, well, Triumph lol.

I think the CBR600RR m/c I had on the naked 350 was 14 mm. I just asked my friend to check his 2003 Speed Four and get back to me. The brakes have to stop an RZ500, so if the Speed Four uses 14mm, that may be right for the 500 given the weight involved. The GSXR calipers and CBR master on the 350 was overkill. One finger and over the handlebars. Literally.

Hi John, IIRC my calipers are from a Daytona 600, and my M/C is a radial R1/R6 unit, 16mm. I'm using Pazzo 'shorty' levers and 2 fingers stops it every time, without being grabby. I'm still using the pads which came with the calipers, assuming they are OEM Triumph, and they work fine.

Thanks Paul

I logged onto Norbo's forum, but even after doing so the link won't open for me. It still says I don't have permission, even while I'm inside the forum.
