Yep Methanol is a Cruel Mistress. I had some nice new pistons in so I thought I would do a couple of slowish runs just to give them a bit of a run in. I knew the top end was tuned very fat but didnt give the mid range a lot of thought as I hadnt planned on spending any time there. It was not quite rich enough it seems. I took off from the line and it just wanted to take off so I was being gentle on the throttle, BIG MISTAKE. Thinking about it now I should have short shifted and held it flat out.
Ive got the richest needle I could get and the needle jet is drill out as far as I dare go so its back to the drawing board as far as mid range jetting goes. Im thinking perhaps a flat machined on the needle like Lectrons have and drill and tap a m3 or m4 hole into the slide so I can lock the needle with the flat facing down stream.

Anyway just 11 months and 2 weeks to go till next time. :smt023

Thanx guys, all good. Not like I need to get it ready for next week end, thats one big advantage of this form of racing. :)

I might get a run or 2 at a local air strip to run it in this time + a trip or 2 to a dyno.

Took a video of setting up the pits. This is screwing 60mm teck screws into the salt with a 18 volt cordless drill. You screw the plates to the salt to hold up a shade.

Thanx mate. Wish it went as good as it looks. LOL I was going to go with more Aero, bigger fairing etc but think it would spoil the look of it so have decided to keep it looking like a bike until I need to start changing that sort of stuff. It really is a pretty looking bike I think.

Looks like you may have a water leak, can't see any signs of DET . Unless it started and lifted the head, what are the rings like.

Hey Slinger. Thanx for your input. I havnt had anything to do with Methanol before so am learning as I go. So the erosion might not be DET? The other piston is fine but the earth electrode is missing as well. Rings look OK but the other cylinder has scuff marks but no alloy deposits. Heads have O-rings and seem to be OK as well but ill have a closer look. I hadnt thought about water leaks so will check the base gasket.

Some strange marks on the good (Better) cylinder. It is Ceramic coated. Any one seen this sort of damage before. Looks to have been made by the ring.

The marks look like ali deposit see if it will wipe off with muriatic acid.

Your o-ring groove looks kinds small in width for that o-ring, also when you use sealant try not to get it past the o-ring. Something I do to individual heads is machine the area out from the o-ring .05mm deeper helps with sealing the head. If you have a 2* angle on the squish band and are using flat top pistons your MSV value will decrease by quite a bit.
Example:65mm bore SAR .5 1mm squish gap =31MSV add 2* and it drops to 23MSV si it's not really doing much.

It's a tough one to answer but meth likes to be rich with loads of comp and advance in the ignition. The only reason I said a water leak is the scuffing and the EX edge is rolled.
