Maiden run today with mixed results :smt017

Carburation seems to be the issue :smt021 The banging it is making on the overrun sounds like a night in Beirut  plus as I get the revs on I'm not sure if it's getting a bit choked at the top end or the rev limiter is making an appearance ?

It has no Tacho so not sure what revs I'm at

A trip to the dyno is what I need to do to get a clearer picture of what's going on :smt035

I got all my jetting suggestions off the Triumph site for my setup so should be in the ball park

Got an oil leak out the gear shift shaft too but it is a Triumph :smt005

Nice comfy ride though and wasn't expecting it to pull stumps out of the ground but it showed me what a pearl of an engine the YPVS motor is :smt004

Well put the Thruxton needles in and is a lot better
These make it run richer so must have been a tad lean

Still not sure what's happening at the top end so a dyno run will give some prognosis I guess

Going in the right direction now though I hope

Got a mirror at last too

Changed the leaking gearshaft seal too which came out easier than I expected as I expected a fight

Your bike looks great. Nice and clean at the back end now.

The stock rear fenders really are an ugly bit of kit. First thing gone on my Thruxton.

Are you going to keep those shocks or did you have something else in mind. That's the decision I'm trying to make right now. I'm thinking these http://www.newthruxton.com/html/ikon_shocks.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Not sure I want to spend $1k for the Ohlins 36PL.

Will keep the shocks for now
They are Thruxton shocks I have which are longer than the stock Bonneville ones

Got the Thruxton fork internals too for a bit of preload but at the moment I haven't turned the preload up so they are set to the lowest setting at the moment .

Just want to get it running clean now :smt010

Just got the ignition back fro TTP who have given it a better ignition map and increased the rev limiter from 7400rpm to 8500 :smt002
Not re fitted it yet so can't comment
Got a larger front sprocket too, so have gone from a 17 tooth to an 18 which all the later retro's are running at

Might crack the Ton yet :smt005
Still got to get it down the dyno :smt011 ...........

Fitted the modded ignition box took it out for a quick spin and the butt dyno says no difference :smt005

Just put bigger front sprocket on (17 tooth to 18) that will probably make more of a difference to riding

Still got to get it on the dyno ...........

The Thruxton R is interesting. A 1200CC parallel twin.

BTW did you rejet after ignition tuning? Fuel curve looks pretty rough. CV carbs tune backward from other carbs. Start with the main and work down to the pilot.

TTP who do the ignition mods said to refit the standard needle and go up to 140 main jets as that is what they got the best results from after hours of testing on the 790cc engine.

I did that but haven't had chance to get to the dyno yet :smt010
