I thought the same! Just got to pull the small dent a little and hit it with the paint.
I am going to color match the Red to the decals I bought, they were slightly off to the original Red but not enough to notice for 99% of the population!

It's a 1995. Just got it registered so he will be good to go once it is inspected!

I am not sure, it could well be. It is a 1988 model, I recall the DT50 but can't remember specifics about the motor.

That engine was in production from early/mid 80's to about 1995 I think. So it's most likely the same, maybe apart from cylinder head and carburettor.

That would also mean the DT80 engine should fit right in without any modifications at all. I did that to my old DT50R.

I dont remember the DT50 having the top end like you have, but the rest could well be the same. I think the motor was also a derivation of the older Enduro models from the 70s, but Im not 100% sure, its been a long time since I sat on a DT50 LOL

Found this... says the DT50 came out in 81.

My friend had a new one in 1984, I aspired to that bike from the seat of my TS50ER (full power 50) and later an MT50 (70cc).

There are a number of engine swaps that people have done. I am going to stick with the stock motor, just jet it for the carb and filter. Realistically, the bike wont get ridden much and I have plenty of performance machines without needing to flog a little old bike to death!!

Hoping to get some work done on the YSR over Christmas.
I haven't had a lot of time recently.. well, all year as I have been racing my RS125 Honda in a local vintage championship and also traveling a lot with work.. OK, enough excuses!
Since the last updates, I have managed to get all the bodywork painted, wet sanded and some decals applied. I have also rebuilt most of the motor and re-installed it minus the top end. I blasted the cylinder and treated it to a coat of high temp paint, re-plated a bunch of internal parts such as cylinder studs which had some surface rust (I am a bit OCD!) and made a few more parts in stainless. I also sourced a Toomey expansion chamber but it has a pretty big dent in the bottom so will need some heat and air pressure to remove it!
