Motor is rebuilt, back in and wired up. Just the carbs to clean/ rebuild/ install, and the Power-valve servo to test. Connect the oil pump etc and we can try and start it. I'll be running premix for a bit till the pump primes....just hoping I have spark...

New sprockets are on

Chain is on, Pipes on, clutch done, started to fit some body-work so i can layout the decals, still have to mount the lower belly fairing.

I also need some bullet connectors, need to re-connect the front signal lights (Winkers), the female bullets-connectors were cut off the bike, so I need to re-do that.

Added oil, added coolant, runs like a dream !

Lower fairing on, just the decals to put on and then get the tank re clear coated.

Still have to wire up the front turn signals too.

I've run it a few more times, runs nice, Have not yet put it in gear to ride it though...soon.

Who ever invented the fairing fastener system on this bike is not my favourite person.

Here are the decals.

Blue tape to mark where the stripes will go
White tape to be the guide once the blue comes off
Tank wet sanded before decals went on, just needs clear coat now

super clean build that.
the belly pan is a complicated affair.
whats the issue with the fairing fasteners?
i wonder how the 500 frame compares to the 250.
is this going to be for sale.?
thanks mark

Hi, Thanks for the compliment

There are just so many damn fasteners and clips and brackets, its just a huge pain taking off the main fairing and belly when I compare it to my NS400r or other bikes. For example using 6 screws per side (12 total) to fasten the belly pan to the Mid, and having 2 different screw sizes and "U" brackets seems odd to me. Surely it would have been easier to just overlap the belly and mid in the same manner that Mid and upper are overlapped and attached :smt017 .

The lower screw for the the belly not only attaches the belly pan to the bracket but it also pulls the 2 halves of the bracket together and clamps the bracket to the frame, so if you don't have a long skinny fingers to fish up through the bottom slot of the belly pan to manoeuvre the bracket, your in for some challenging times. The air was red when I was fiddling with that :smt013 . Maybe it gets easier the more you do it :smt001

Not planning to sell it just yet, but never say never, everything is for sale at some point at the right price :smt002 .
