Re: TZR350
Yeah, the CVMG guys asked if I would enter it in the vintage display, won best Japanese.
Nice bunch of guys, will most likely join up with them and the VRRA again now that I have more time.

Kept under wraps for 6 years, you sly dog. Good job on the build.
Only thing missing is a video of the TZR accelerating away from someone with a camera on board an RZ 350.

Re: TZR350
Thanks Roger.
It took 6 years to complete because I kept getting involved in other projects
like a dozen more RZs half a dozen RDs some YSR50s 80s and even a YSR200.
Then it was the YamaGamma, my son`s TZR blah blah......
I have some video of the TZR riding with a variety of other street bikes but no
track days yet.
The real test would be to get back into vintage racing and see if the TZR350 would
be able to compete with the RZs and FZR400.
I know its as fast or faster than the average RZ but I have my doubts if it can
keep up to the FZRs.

Re: TZR350
I never had the track bug. "Highway ramping" was as close as I ever got to the track.
I still go into an on ramp with 650s and 750s and it's a struggle to keep up with them. The funny part comes when I breeze past them on the off ramp. They look around and say "what's that smell"?

Re: TZR350
I raced in the VRRA and R.A.C.E. events going back to 2003.
Had two RZ track bikes at the time and was still under 50, lol.
I did the highway on off ramps a few times but nearly low sided
due to poor road conditions.
Then I started renting track time at Shannonville, much safer.
Take care Roger.

Re: TZR350
Spent the last few days of my vacation putting some KMs on the TZR350.
Now broken in and sorted, time to ride.

Re: TZR350
Only other dodgy riding I did was in 86, after I had just broken in my new RZ. The QEW was wide open so I cranked the throttle till it read 200 KPM. I was hugging the tank and tucked into the fairing and couldn't believe the wind buffeting.
That's when I decided the track wasn't for me. Haven't done it since. Can't imagine what the GP riders experience lap after lap at 300 KPM.

Re: TZR350
Lots of force. The TZ was fun on the track for that. The fairing so dinky, and flimsy.

Re: TZR350
Thought about a TDR/RZ hybrid but the TZR350 set me back 10K.
Resale value would most likely be half of what I have invested,
unless there is a like minded hooligan out there that just has to have it.
I did put together a YamaGamma 10 years ago for 5K but had a lot of donor parts here already.
Also did a YSR200, YSR50 with a DT200 engine, custom frame Tommy Crawford exhaust.....

Re: TZR350
Who foots these bills???!
Re: TZR350
Yours truly.
The expense of building a hybrid is you need to buy two bikes
unless you have some rollers or a bunch of parts to pick from.
Then you most likely need some custom machined parts made up, custom
engine cradle, exhaust, etc... it adds up in a hurry.
