My 1996 GSXR SRAD project

Always wanted a SRAD. Last year ever for carbs.
Picked this up for only $1800.00. This bike is a virtual dream to ride, utter pleasure and about 135 h.p. too ..it's a pretty damned fast short stroke, high rev engine. Here's what she has.
1.) Yoshimura cams.
2.) Rebuilt, FOX shock.
3.) Full Yoshimura exhuast.
4.) Revalved forks.
5.) NRC case guards.
6.) Sharkskinz 1 pc. solo seat!
7.) Seargent race seat (Comfy.)
8.) Custom adj. rear sets.
9.) Yoshimura special carb kit beyond (Uber rare!) Micro drilled needles.
I'd like to do a a Scott Russel replica, or another SERT endurance replica..but I might just leave her as is, as she's the only bike I have that's 100% turn key.why Fuck up a good thing, later I may do this...the SERT looks So...Good, It's likley the way I'll go quick fills ,Quick release axles etc...And I'll do the Paintwerks. I'm trying to source a Yoshi high mount mid pipe

my first "supersport" was a 98 SRAD 600. She was a bit wide, but I liked the arse on her.

Dude, that's such a nice looking bike, The 600s were a very good machine, and frankly held their own well into the early 2000s, vs the super high rev 600s that started to appear.
Yeah..and skinny girls...no thanks?

Adding a Vintage Factory Pro AMA spec carb rebuild jet/ kit to the GSXR.
Not using the Ti needles though as I have Yoshimura micro drilled needles. This bike Rips, for a 750. I do realllllly miss the Tq. of a liter bike, but after hitting the higher RPMs this thing comes alive and fairly hard. Found out she has a Yoshimura spec top end, to go with theYoshi cams. I can't compare it to modern 750s or liter bikes . But she's fast enough for me. Once all set up I'll get her dyno tuned again. We're guessing she has around 130 h.p ,as it's faster than a friend's GSXR1100
Missed out on a Full Ti Yoshimura race exhuast, So I'm going to have a custom fabrication shop build me a custom mid pipe to alter the height of my Yoshimura standard layout exhuast canister to a race spec high mount. Also putting her on a diet, can see just front 5 minutes if looking , easy way to lose 15 lbs, I'd really like to shed 40 lbs off this girl..but it's hard as it's a fairly lightweight bike to start. Not much heavier than bikes 2 years her junior
It's very expensive $$$ to try to lose more weight..so I may have to just live with it. Compared to the RZ or the Enfield, this things a Friggin TANK !!!
But the handling and modification make her just sublime.

Yep, a Turbo 2, This car has a interesting story, Imagine always wanting one if these since you were 17. Then 38 years later your talking with a random mechanic in a Porsche restoration shop, Saying "Yeah these are great n all, but Oh Man would I really like to find a Renualt Turbo 2 " then the guy says , HELL!! " I know a guy who has one, and he's interested in selling it, And he lives right across town too" The car has sat in a climate controlled hanger for the last 26 years, with only 12 k on the ODO. It comes with the " factory" 210 h.p. power up kit, and boxes n boxes if brand new OEM parts still bagged in original packaging...what are the odds!
So that's how that story goes...lol

It's a standard Turbo 2, with approx 175 h.p., but it's so small, so light..it a super quick lil car, snorts n pops and emmitting burps of flame from the exhuast. All while a raging high strung motor n& turbo spools up right behind you in the backseat!
It's just a badass tough lil car.

No Imagining required, I loved the idea of those and only ever saw one, in the paddock at the Canadian Grand Prix in the late '80s.
I just happened to watch this last week; https://youtu.be/Bng-3aNfqe0 Awesome little car.

Thanks, for that video. Leno has the best car programs.
He's really just a normal dude, He's been to the 2 stroke shows down here, and I've met him personally 2x , once just driving around, He gave me a thumbs up :smt023 for my small block powered Mazda truck I had.
I saw him once on the freeway shoulder, greasy & sleeves rolled up helping a woman with a broken down vintage VW beetle.
Living in Los Angeles was alot of fun, not what many people think. Best years of my life, hands down.
I'd move back in a heartbeat but you can't buy a house in a good area for under 600k -800k No where...it sucks. All the west coast cities San Diego, L.A. , Frisco, Seattle,Portland are becoming Haven's for the well to do. Working people will no longer be able to live in the cities, at least not in a manner of what we were brought up with.
Dear God...Stop me... I was on a roll...lol :smt021
My bikes take me back to a happy place in time, as I'm sure they do you!!

Loving the Renault, proper Grp B fun n games. Last year I bought a low milage Evo V to get my late 90s AWD Rally fix, light cars with lots of power and no modern driving aids are wondeful, im always amazing at how well my Evo steers and handles, even on 20 year old OEM suspension.

I almost bought a 2001 GSXR750, I loved it, but the lure of an R1 was too much to bear. The 750 was 'enough' really and I loved the test ride, yet I wanted a litre bike lol I bet I wasnt alone in that. I missed the launch of the GSXR1000 by a week when I bought the R1, I was happy with my choice tho.

UPDATE:, HOLY GRAIL OF GSXR parts. Someone above Must be looking down on me :smt003

I've been contacted by a individual whom keeps a low profile, regarding Suzuki SRAD and Slingshot race parts.
So far it's all mine..mine...mine.
At least what I can afford...but all my other projects go to FULL STOP for this....it's a once in a lifetime score.

Just take a look at what I am being offered....it's FULL TILT GONZO Factory/Yoshimura everything.
Factory Titanium race spec exhuasts, Alum quick fill fuel tanks, carbon airboxes, subframes catchcans., WSBK/AMA/Endurance shocks, linkage, front SHOWA suspension, Technomagnisio wheels/ brakes, Race bodywork you name it this guy has it.
Micro needle MJN carb sets, cams, Dryclutch assemblies... anything. These parts cost a provibial fortune back in the day ..pipes were 6k, handmade fuel Tanks were 5k+, Rear shocks were 10k+, front suspension was 20k+, in the 90s WSBK and AMA Superbikes cost in excess of $300,000. -$500,000 Obviously, 20+ years later ....I ain't payin anywhere even remotely close to that. The parts are very specific as to what theater they raced in AMA, AMA Daytona, WSBK or Endurance, example:
No parts from 1 bike will easily fit another race bike, 1996 parts will not fit a 97,98,or 99 nor 2000. Indavudual factory backed builds, there that specific and require multiple changes, example: Different versions of Titanium and stainless race pipes, are re angled, so that requires a new oilpan, oil pickup, Right footrest, Rear subframe and pipe hanger. Same as our beloved 2 Stroke GP500s bikes, expansion chambers (pipes) were built for each indavidual raceteack/venue.
There are alsi a few race bikes & parts some of you hardcore race fans may recognize. Hint. (see my above pics) These bikes and parts are A,B and C spec race bikes and parts, some are 1 of 1. Riden by the best racers of their eras and built by the Masters themselves.. Yoshimurura.

Thanks for the tip 👍
Nice XRO part for sure.
The 96-99 Gixxer SRADs are all over the map regarding fitmet of dry clutch assemblies.
Most XRO etc.. from what I've been told , cannot be fitted into production engine cases. Cases have to be designated factory race parts, and there very hard to locate in useable condition for realistic prices.
Very, very few race bike parts will fit any other bike other than the one or two race bikes for which they were built for. That's what makes these parts so godawful hard to find for the SRAD. The previous generation GSXRs Slabside and Slingshot race bikes while trick in their day, almost anyone could build from production parts avail.
The dry clutches my lead has ,are said to be designed in house by Yoshimurura to be fitted into stock cases, without primary shaft or crank shaft changes...but Not sure if I really want a dry clutch ??? For all the expense & labor involved, Think I'd like a slipper clutch instead. Dry clutch will hit me hard on a budget, and won't make the bike any faster, a slipper will really cut lap times and be safer for my riding style, which tends to be
a lil too heavy handed....lol
Sucks when you realize...your really TOO OLD to crash.... lol 🙄
Still haven't bought a part from the guy yet, but negotiating a Duplex full race high mount pipe. To start things off. His price was quite fair. Hopefully other parts follow suit.
Thanks again.
