Finding usable LC and early RZ calipers can be a mine field, especially the hard to locate flattened and grooved o rings inside the sliders, but they were used on some other bikes.
While the LC calipers have two slightly different units, with different pads it seems, they all fit the same forks and disks as the LC/RZ if using the 40mm caliper/fork combos from what i can tell. (check out Norbos RDLCCRAZY sales website and hit the info pages, its shows the calipers and has info on there)
The LC calipers have a different hanger (its alloy) and a pin that the later RZ ones dont, but they look much the same to anyone who isnt an anorak!
When looking for parts; the seals look to be the same, but ive heard that the pistons do not have as much depth on the later caliper rebuild kits, and while that probably wont affect the performance in use for those of us running bikes infrequently, it means more fluid in the caliper, and hence more chance of water etc. FWIW there is some talk about these pistons being different depending on the disks used below if you read down, but i think its more that the opposed 2 pot caliper items are less deep as they have little room on the inboard pot, they just happen to have the same OD and hence fit these early units.
Pistons/seals are available from many sources, Norbo and Yambits looking to have very similar kits from Japan and sometimes you can find stainless pistons on ebay from the uk. Re-manufactured rubber dust boots are available from the usual RD/RZ sources too, but are NLA from Yamaha now.
Pads... Anyone care to comment on the best pads for these low tech (single pot) units that will bring out the best in them?

Anyway, for those looking for caliper parts... This info comes from the lower part of this thread:
http://xs1100.com/forum/index.php?topic=3902.120" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
">>Calipers look identical to the XJ version (down to the numbers!)..... and so are the exact same item as the 350LC
Hmmm...? Not according to my inside contact in the LC Club Alan..???
My digging about suggests that those calipers were introduced on the '81 XS1100LH (MNS) - 4W1 model...
The 4W1 fiche has them as follows:
4W1-25810-00-00 - Caliper RHS
4W1-25810-10-00 - Caliper LHS
Same year they were fitted to the Sport/RH models...
The 5K7 fiche has them as follows:
4W1-25810-00 - Caliper RHS
4W1-25810-10 - Caliper LHS
(Dunno why they left of the last "00", that's the finish code - must have only been available in Black..?)
And in '82, they popped up again on the XJ1100J:
The 10M fiche has them as follows:
4W1-25810-00-00 - Caliper RHS
4W1-25810-10-00 - Caliper LHS
But... Those that appeared on the RD350LC must have been "subtley different" somehow...
The 4L0 fiche has the '80 350LC calipers listed as follows:
4L0-25810-20 - Caliper RHS
4L0-25810-30 - Caliper LHS
However... the obsolete boot - Pt No: 4L0-25911-00-00 is common to all of these calipers and also appears on the ones fitted to the XJ550/650/750 Maxims... In my experience, any time a leaking fork is left so that the oil gets onto the brakes, all such brake boots are cream-crackered... Seeing as that boot was common to so many bike models (I haven't done an exhaustive search) it's little wonder that they're out of stock now...
I'll carry on with my research into alternatives... You never know who's going to need 'em...
Miti :kinganorak:"
Miti later (next page says):
Hi Alan...
I'm not disputing that they appeared to be the same in form, fit & function... But as far as Yamahaha are concerned they were different parts... (I quoted the '80 LC deliberately mate...)
A cursory browse thru the LC and LH fiches shows a few parts were common between the two calipers, but the overall assembly part numbers are different...
Notable differences.....
Brake pad kit:
'80LC: 4L0-W0045-00, '81 LH: 23W-W0045-01-00
Brake Pad retainer;
'80LC: 90101-08312, '81 LH: 4W1-25913-00-00
Caliper Retaining Bolts:
'80LC: 90101-10308, '81 LH: 90101-10500
Caliper slide Pin
'80LC: 4L0-25914-00, '81 LH: 4W1-25914-00-00
Similarities: (as well as the notorious boot...)
Bleed Valve Kit:
'80LC & '81 LH: 1J3-W0048-00
Caliper Seal Kit:
'80LC & '81 LH: 4L0-W0047-01
Interestingly, the brake pistons are different part No's too... I reckon that the the calipers are probably identical in form/fit/function and that the differences between them are to accommodate the thicker disks on the larger capacity bikes... Hence the differences in all the parts where the depth of the caliper would differ...??
Miti
The thought of these calipers on a 1100cc bike is a bit scary to be honest.... but hey it was the early 80s! LOL!

Thanks for a nice addition to the Tech page. Timely too as I'm getting ready for a brake system rehab.

Re: LC and early RZ calipers and other bikes of the era...
Moments ago I put the long bolt into the short hole to bolt up my right side caliper and broke the caliper. Does anyone have a source for a right hand caliper for a 1982 RD350LC???
