Caswell liner done 84 RZ 350

#1 Post by 75RD350rider » Sat Feb 20, 2016 9:41 pm

Made a petcock hole cover out of a handy shelf bracket and a piece of inner tube to contain the acetone rinse recommended by Caswell
Image
Ran the airline into the tank for an hour whilst I fed the Baby Mommas to dry the acetone

Caswell doesn't come in cans anymore. It comes in bags that you mash and mix the two part in and then cut open the corner of the bag and squeeze the stuff into the tank
Image
Per the instructions, saran wrap and a rubber band till you get done rotating the tank. I used a rag and 2 screws to plug the petcock hole
Image
Rotated the tank every 5 minutes in every direction for an hour and then poured out the excess (which their wasn't much of)

Done and done. I put a bit of anti-seize on the screws and worked them in and out a few times so they will come out when the stuff sets up.
Caswell is way thicker than Kreme or the other tank sealers I have used. All in all not a bad job. Paint work is next . I hope to have the rest of the pieces off and to the painter by next weekend
I love the smell of Blue Marble in the morning!

Last tank I did had that crappy Kreme Liner all breaking up inside.
Acetone cleaned that Kreme crap out completely, when I used the Caswell back then (a few years ago) you mixed it and it came out real thick with a red finish.
I thinned it a bit as it was too thick. Finish when dried was fantastic and it is the best product by far IMO.
Interesting about the new Caswell product would use again without hesitation.
