R6 cooling fan on 84 RZ

Today I took 30 minutes after feeding the Baby Mommas and pulled the radiator off of the RZ. Then I began the process of figuring out how I am going to mount my R-6 cooling fan.... I will be using adel clamps and securing the fan to the frame downtubes in lieu of mounting it directly to the radiator. More to follow.

Can't wait to see what you come up with Tim here! Many will be watching. I haven't tried to remount mine as I can't see running wires or tie straps through the fin area.

I drilled the spot welds to cut off the brackets of the fan for my LC421 install, i used a dedicated bracket for a different rad and moved it forward enough to get the fan in the gap tho, you can see the build stuff on my website, link below.

Oh and dont 'see of the fan works' by holding one end and touching off the wiring. there is a surprising amount of power in these fans and they will eat fingers...

I mounted mine directly to the radiator and use a toggle switch under the tank,, No problems with it this way.....

ImageBetter pic.of lower clamp.
There were three brackets on the fan. I took one off as it wasn't needed and was in the way. It doesnt move around at all but the brackets have a little flex to them.I don't think metal fatigue will be an issue. I hope to hook up the wiring today before work.

Thanks for the kind words. It took about 3 hours start to finish for me to figure out the orientation and spacing.

Had to redo the top mount after close inspection revealed the adel clamp on top touching the radiator. So I drilled a hole in an unused frame tab and that took care of it after a little creative bracket bending.
The bracket looks close to the coolant recovery tank but it doesn't touch it. I am going to relieve that area a touch with the dremel before final assembly..
