Redline 2 Stroke Oil?
Picked up a gallon of Redline at a local shop. But when I got home I noticed it was for snowmobiles. When I looked online I see that they sell Race Oil for 2 strokes. I see that the Redline for snowmobiles has anti rust properties and the Race Oil doesn't.
Does anyone know the difference? Should I keep the Redline snowmobile oil or get the racine oil?

Re: Redline 2 Stroke Oil?
You know in my experience you can run just about any 2-stroke oil there is without a problem under normal conditions. Although I must admit that being from Southern California I have never seen a quart of snowmobile oil.
You have to be honest about your actual riding style & conditions and use at least oil thats in the "ballpark" for your application, injector oil vs premix oil etc.. Especially If you are actually "racing" I would certainlly play it safe & use specific oil of your choice.
I have ridden RZs,RDs dirt bikes ATCs etc..on virtually anything bought or borrowed or traded at one time or another in just about every riding condition and in 30 + years have never had any oil related problems. Once in an emergency I even added Quaker State motor oil to my fuel & injector and rode over 80 miles and everything was just fine.
In your " racing" RZ I'd use a specific rated oil of your chouce for obvious reasons along with basic at least C12 or equiv race fuel etc...
In your other RZs are just drivers and it is "injectable" snowmobile oil I would guess you could just use it until you're done and then switch to whichever brand you normally use. Perhaps I've just been lucky and surely in some cases I was. Would I do it now? No , motors now cost me more than the bikes were brand new, so I am careful about everything. For the most part Ive always used synthetic 2 stroke oils. But in a pinch or on a budget Ive used alot of shit I probably shouldnt have.

Re: Redline 2 Stroke Oil?
FWIW, I've used Redline Snowmobile formula for years. I went with the sled specific so that I could use it in my injected sled and my injected bikes without having two different jugs of oil lying around.. No issues, maybe a bit smokier than some?

Re: Redline 2 Stroke Oil?
I thought it was suppose to be smokeless? The price was right he told me he'd sell it to me at cost and charged me $55. At that price I'm not complaining. When I googled it I read it is basically identical to the Racing Oil with the acception of better rusting agents in the snowmobile oil.

Re: Redline 2 Stroke Oil?
I used a bottle of moto Red Line in my dirt bike and it smells terrible so I stopped using it. I use Yamalube injector oil in my RD and RZ. 70k combined miles so far...
Re: Redline 2 Stroke Oil?
Smokeless - no, not by any means. A friend that rode behind me on a Ski Doo Mach 700 triple always complained that it was smokey, and he didn't like the smell. But, he was riding a 4 stroke..
The sled formulation ensures flow at cold temps as stated by a good friend that sells a lot of it.

Re: Redline 2 Stroke Oil?
What, if any are the potential down sides to using a 2 stroke oil that is labeled as 'pre-mix' only? I ask because I'm considering using Maxima 927 castor bean based oil in my 84 with the Auto lube pump hooked up.
