No worries,
Just something I noticed on the last pic you posted, The cable is riding on the outside of the return spring for the pump, Get a small flat screwdriver and pry the spring out of the slot a little and let the cable slide in past and sit squarely on the the pulley, Then push the spring back in, This will keep the cable in its place.
All good then..

Good eye there tacky! Yes, small flathead screwdriver to gently pry spring seat on outside moved far enough for the cable to pass.

Spent today redoing what I thought was done. I put it all together and discovered that the throttle cable barrels were about 1/4 inch too long and would not allow the slides to touch the idle screws. I pulled the barrels off of the end of the cable housings and cut them off 1/4 inch with my handy cut off wheel and there were enough threads left in the remaining barrel for reassembly and synch. All is well now. Test ride complete and front wheel removed for a 2nd trip to the local Yamaha dealer for the leak after work today... Thanks Evans Ward and Tacky for your guidance. I learned all about the placement of the cable under the return spring tang and was lucky enough to get the cable positioned without unwinding the spring...
