vid editing software

looking for recommendations for the above.
nothing fancy just want to shorten some clips to upload.
free if possible.

Windows Movie Maker ?
It's a part of win_7 professional editions but I strongly assume you'll get a free download from Microsoft.

Same as above Mark.

I have tried others and software that comes with devices but always end up back in windows movie maker.

thanks guys , i updated the movie maker and it works fine now (missing some files before)

Youtube's video editor works well for editing videos. It what I use.
