Spec II Pipe Springs

#1 Post by Darrell » Thu Sep 13, 2018 5:02 pm

Anyone running Spec II pipes? I bought a nice used set and they came with the spigots but not with the springs. There are lots of springs available on eBay and elsewhere, but I'm unsure whether the pipes should each have one or two springs. It looks like it's designed for two, but perhaps the second mounting point is for convenience?
Also, what's the correct length spring to order? The assembled gap between spring mounting points is about 60 mm.

Gracias!

By the way, has anyone else had trouble getting Toomey to actually send pipes? I ordered a set in June, and was told it would be two weeks. Since then I get a different story every time I call or e-mail. I want the pipes, but it would be nice if they'd just tell me the truth about delivery time.

Mine have the bent chain link at both ends and I've always run 2 springs because they do break and disappear from time to time. Get them a bit shorter than the length between the eyes and not too soft and you'll be fine. I'll measure some for you next time I'm in the garage.

I bought two pair of springs at Lowe's. I think they'll work.

How long was it before you finally got your pipes? I have a couple parts on order with them- They charged my visa account over a month ago but the current excuse is they are "waiting for parts."
I thought that was funny. I'm the one waiting for parts! They are supposed to be making the parts.

I'm still waiting for my Toomey pipes, and they continue to lie to me about how long it will be. I ordered in June and was told it would be two weeks. I've contacted them regularly, and continue to hear the two-week story. Too bad that I want the pipes, or I'd cancel, but I DO want the pipes. The truth is that I don't mind waiting, and had they told me up front it would be four months I could have lived with that. But I hate it when a company lies to me.
