Sunday Oct 2nd (1st Sunday every October and every May, thus 2x per year) is the autumn date for the Slimy Crud Run, a ride that brings 2000-3000 bikes of all makes and models, but many of them vintage and cafe' bikes along with some exotics on a round trip run from the tiny town of Pine Bluff, just a few miles west of Madison, WI to the tiny town of Leland, WI some 35 miles away. Apparently started in the 1970's, with not many knowing the real origins of the ride, but it grows each year regardless.

The riders begin gathering on Sunday morning and the ride starts at 11:00. Follow the crowd or find your own way (many, many miles of nice twisty's all along both sides of the Wisconsin river (to perhaps ride across the ONLY FREE ferry in the U.S. at Merrimac, WI.) and through the beautiful farm and bluff country of Sauk County out to Leland, home of two bars, a church, and perhaps you may catch a glimpse of the infamous white deer that live in this area of the state.

At this point I plan on riding at least a portion of the ride, hopefully hooking up with a waterski buddy from Madison with one of my rz's and his Aprilia and enjoying the scenery, both natural and the 2 wheeled varieties.

I think I will talk to my buddy, and my son. Maybe we will come down for that ride.
