This year,im going for a safe build/tune and have worked on my aerodynamics.
There is another RGV entered in the class I hold the record in (140.5 mph) so that will be interesting. Depending on how he performs on whether I give the Gas class another run next year, I still going for a higher speed in the Fuel class this year.

Well this is getting to be a bit of a habit. Day 1, run 1, 1 mile and a rear wheel lock up. Luckily my fingers were hovering over the clutch in anticipation. I got the bike back to he pits and pulled out the plugs. An all to familiar sight, no earth electrode on the bottom plug.
I decided to run the bike in on BP Premium Unleaded mixed at 25/1 with Motul 710 before filling with the Sunoco unleaded that I bought for my big come back. I took off from the line nice and genitally shifting at round 11.000 till I hit top. It wouldnt pull top at those revs so back to 5th and up to 11.000 again. Quick glance down at the EGT and all looked good at 1150 F. Sweet I thought, this is easy. Then WTF, rear wheel locks.
I had converted the carbs back to petrol jetting from methanol but it looks like I overlooked something so ill be ordering 2 new carbs and start again.
A mate took pity on me and offered me a ride on his bike. A lay on Hyabusa. Took a bout 1.3 milliseconds to say Fuck Yeh. I didnt have my 150 mph licence yet so he set the limiter to 8.000 so just a matter of getting it into top gear and run it up to the soft limit. These big bike riders have got it easy I thought, 150 mph came up in no time, hold it there for a cpl of seconds then roll off the throttle, easy. Until the bike starts to develop a slow weave that turns into a full on tank slap still doing 140 ish. First thought was to hit the throttle hard and it will straighten up, problem is that the bike is limited to 150 so all that did was to get me back to 150. Not much to do but hang on and enjoy the ride, 1/2 mile of lock to lock tank slapping fun. At around 50 mph I suppose it stopped and all was well, peel off to the left and onto the return road back to the pits where I was greeted by the owner and our pit crews (wives) How was that I was asked to which I answered with my description of my near death experience. Fuck, glad it was you and not was the reply. LOL.
After a debrief and I think the problem was that we are both the same weight but im shorter so my weight was more over the front end. He had done a 163 mph run the day before with no problems.
He put the bike back in his trailer and will investigate the handling. But what a blast that ride was, really gets the adrenaline pumping. Would I get on it again? Yep no question.
