Side Stand Control Unit Delete

#1 Post by mixalive » Sun Feb 28, 2016 10:20 pm

I am deleting the side stand switch on my 1985 US model RZ350. Looking at the wiring diagram, it looks to me like I can delete the side stand / neutral light control unit all together by connecting the two sky blue wires, thereby connecting the neutral switch directly to the neutral lamp. Any input from you guys?
RZ350 with FZ600 swingarm, FZR600 wheels, front end and FZR400 bodywork.

Don't do it. I know someone who died from this. In the prime of his life.
Its there for a reason, all new bikes have them, keep the sidestand safety switch.

Good safety device for those who don't remember to put the kickstand up. :smt023

Haven't had one on my RZ since 1986. Never had a problem. Deleted on my custom bikes, too.

Pretty sure I just removed the switch and connected the 2 wires together.

Did the exact same here, I'm one of the guys whom always removes this as well, probably not the best practice, coming from a guy who one left the pits without a nut on his front axle :smt045 Obviouslly do so at your own discression.
