Just in process of swapping my fuse box out with something we found in a mates stash of spares with blades. Crimps are best on vehicles as wires that flex are less likely to fracture. That's why they use them. But not those nasty preinsulated things. They are just asking for trouble.

That's why I suggested the fuse box.
They all corrode/break at the fuse terminals and for most people it's the last location to be checked if the fuse was ok ...

BTW: No need to be embarrassed. We all have such stories to tell.
When I was 15 back in 1982 the rear light of my bike (Herkules Prima 5S, 50cc, 25kmh) was not working.
Smart as I was, I took out dads measuring equipment and immedeately started sorting the wiring. After an unsuccessful hour or so I had the great idea to check the bulb first. Guess what caused the issue ... ?

Great find. It just goes to show, that often we take things for granted, without looking for simple, logical issues. So much will lead us astray because we tend not to take the time to Check the obvious, although, it sounds to me like you did, just not well enough.
